I think it is only okay to give human food to pets as trerats, not as their main food. Even then, you have to be careful , as some human foods can cause problems with various pets. For instance, with dogs, grapes are toxic to them, & bread is bad too. Chocolate is toxic to dogs too. Cats are so fussy that it is not likely you could feed them much human food anyway. Cats shouldn't have human milk because of the latose in it.

By all means. Pet food is expensive so I just feed them leftovers.

once in awhile i let them eat some of what i'm eating (such as thankgiving turkey) but i don't make a habit of it.it's particularily not good for cats, since some of our food doesn't contain all the nutrients they need.

In theory, pets should be fed foods which are for them and not people's leftovers and stuff. Here in the Philippines, dogs, for example, are more often fed leftovers of their owners. This will make them fatter and make their coats dry and dull.

Well pet food are really expensive here in the Philippines, so unless you're one of the people who can afford it, you're most likely to end up feeding your dog or cat leftovers from your table. I have a dog and that's what we feed her. My guinea pigs get wild grass and some vegetables instead of feeds...
