phone bills

My husband and I have a great cell phone plan, so we don't really fight about it. But my girlfriend is currently restricted from her phone. This makes me wonder, how does an adult get restricted? I know phone prices are crazy, but to have one and not be able to use it. What does everyone else say?

I had a friend who was cut off from using her phone because she didn't pay the bill, but they started her up again as soon as we paid it for her. These days it seems like it doesn't take long at all until they cut you off with many things like phone, cable, etc. I know the basic utilities give you a little more leeway, but things that are considered non-essential can technically cut you off if you are at all late with your bill. Otherwise I can't think how such a thing would have happened.

I din't explain well enough. She paid the bill before it got shut off, her boyfriend took her phone away!

Oh I see. In that case I think it's ridiculous that her boyfriend has that kind of power over her. I know that some people are happy in types of relationships that I would not be, so I try not to judge. But I could not as an adult stand to let someone take away those kinds of rights from me.

It sounds more like the bill wasn't paid. They have to be in order to keep the service. I mainly use a home phone as I don't have a tracfone nor a cell phone plan at all. I think that's about it with them. I can't really think of any other possible solution.

I have a home phone that I use for the biggest part of my calls....and a prepaided trac phone for my cell. Seems to me she must not have paid a bill or something.
