What sneaky things have you caught your kids doing?

Besides puting the clean clothes in the hamper, my daugther also had a tendency (sometimes) to put all her junk into a spot in her room, when she is supposed to be cleaning her room. I guess her room is somewhat big (not really) because he has serveral of these hiding places. She knows I will find her "stash" eventually, but I guess she figures at the moment, she doesn't feel like cleaning but she doesn't want to near me nagging either so she just piles it into one place. Have your kids done this? What other "sneaky things" have they done, thinking that you won't find out, or not caring if you find out, they just didn't want to do what they were supposed to at that moment?

When my daughter was a teenager I was told she had been skipping school. I could not believe it because I drove her to school every morning on my way to work. I would drop her off at the corner of the street where the school was and she would wait until I drove away and then turn around and walk all the way back home. The school did not notify me until she had been doing it for 3 weeks. I was enraged at the school for not letting me know sooner and my daughter deserved every bit of the punishment she got plus summer school.

I can't believe they waited so long either! Now, when children are absent (at least at the schools my children attend) we get recorded messages from the school notifying us that our child missed school for that day.

My son did that. He cut freshman year of high school for a month and the only way I found out was when I went to the report card conferences. I was so mad at the school.

lol I have to laugh because my son cleans his room the same way. he puts things in weirdest placesso that at first glance on checking his room looks good, but if I step in there and actually start looking ill find the dirty clothes, garbage what ever he knows is suposed to be cleaned up he hides. he is 16 now and after every week all his life finding these hiding spots, he still does except now, I think he does it to irritate me. when asked if room is done he says " of course" and when you go look (and yes I do look) it's like.... ya know those pictures find what doesn't belong...lol thats his room. he is up cleaning his room now lol

lol Well, what happens with me sometimes. Mostly before I caught on was this. I'd look in her room and it would look clean and I'd be satisfied. Sometimes I will clean her room for her, when she's in school. A few (okay more than a few) times, when I've been cleaning her room, I would find her stash! Now when I tell her to clean her room and I check. I try to remember to check the spots where she hides the junk. And I usually specifically say. "Clean your room the right way, this time, no hiding stuff in corners!" lol Sometimes she if very thorough and sometimes she isn't. I guess she takes after me in letting her mood dictate what she does. That's where I fall short on discipline. Sometimes I'm too sympathetic, because I know how I am and I don't want to be a hypocrite.

Busted! - This is a picture of my daughter busted eating a huge Hershey's bar. The look on her face was priceless when I busted her.
Well my daughter is still young so I don't have too many stories to choose from. The funniest was when I busted her eating one of those giant sized Hershey bars. My fiance left his candy bar sitting on the night stand in the wrapper. I knew my daughter was being awfully quiet. As soon as I walked in the bedroom she jumped and turned around with this busted look in her eyes and that huge candy bar in her mouth. It was hilarious.

lol Great story and great picture! When mine was little her preschool was having an m&m fundraiser. I caught her hiding behind a chair with a few packages of m&m's. I've never liked candy fundraisers since then!

I caught my son when he was 8 shaving his legs when he was taking a bath. He also has a habit of getting into food and stashing the leftovers in odd places.

I remember Mom telling us about a time when my sister was just a little girl (Becky's four years older than I am), and in the kitchen with Mom, while Mom was cooking dinner. When Mom's back was turned, Becky stuck her hand in the cookie jar, and tried to sneak one, but still with her back turned, Mom caught her and told her to let go of the cookie. to this day, Becky still doesn't know how Mom knew she had her hand in the cookie jar.

I know watching my niece she's a pack rat. She use to like to take thing and hide them or put them in the toy box that she has here at my house.

Let's see... my son hid his homework under his mattress because he did not want me to see his grades. He would also hid his "skidmarked, stinky underware under the bed. I caught his sister and him pulling labels off cans in the pantry. All my kids hated to clean their rooms so things got stuffed under beds and in closets. They hated to put away clothes so they would leave them in a heap and wear them from the heap instead of the drawers. As they got older they took change out of my change jar. Or they would eat things from the fridge that I had planned to use for supper. And dont even ask about brownies. My son would sneak all the brownies out and leave one or two.

Hi miamilady, I had to laugh at this one. My granddaughter whom I am raising loves to "clean her room" right into her closet. I found it out so now what I do is check her room and say "good job" The next day or two go by and then I tell her that I need her to clean out her closet before I do! It only took a few times and now she has gotten the message. No more cleaning into the closet! Take care...nice discussion...

My fiancees children will take things to eat to their bedroom knowing that food isn't allow in their bedroom. If they hear someone coming they will throw the container and food out their bedroom window. They have been caught doing this a few times. Or they will hide their socks behind the furniture because they don't want to walk to put them in the laundry.

I have 4 daughters, 3 of them grown so my list here could be endless. One of my daughters took my kaluha and made a solution of coffee, vanilla and sugar to replace it, assuming I would not know the difference. I wouldn't have if i'd never taken a drink of it! They have snuk out windows and snuck kids in windows. as I said with 4 of them, I could easily write a book. The kaluha incident comes to mind first as she did it gradually and it did in fact take me a while to notice. I came home from work after a particularly rough nite and looking forward to kicking back and having a drink...lets just say it was bad...very bad. I knew which kid it was. even knowing, she denied it. Yes, I grew not to be surprised at anything kids can pull.

lol thanks for your reply! I would LOVE to read that book you mentioned! It's funny the things that kids think we won't notice, isn't it? When I was a kid, for some strange reason, I thought if I kissed a boy under water (this was when I was really young) no one would see. duh It was at a summer camp where my older next door neighbor was a councelor. Of course, she's the one that saw us and proceeded to come home and tell all of my older siblings. I heard about that one for a while.

Believe it or not, my mom never caught me doing anything I wasn't supposed to do. I haven't done anything really horrible, but she has never caught me.
