what if you see someone wearing exactly the same dress as one of your favorites?

would you instantly discard it? or would continue to wear it? this idea of dress occurred to me while i saw someone on mylot having the same avatar as mine. i feel shocked not because of the thought that someone stole mine but only because i got confused if i had replied again in the same discussion!:P by the way i don't think it would be called stealing anyway because mine avatar is the one which i myself saved from the internet and it's like a big market which means it's not necessary that what i bought from it wouldn't be bought by someone else too!:) and i don't think that in real life if i see someone wearing the same dress as mine i m not going to discard it because if i did so it would be just an example of mean thinking.:) what about you? are you going to discard yours? do you mind seeing someone with the same avatar as is yours? and do you change your avatar if you notice something like this?

In the case of "dress", it is not as if you will keep being at the same place at that person everyday. I would just make sure I don't wear the same as that person if I know he is attending. It is quite likely though that this similar article of clothing will become less favored by me.:P
As for the case of avatar, I don't think I would like to have the same as someone. I made this animated one myself so if someone uses the same as mine, it is quite definitely stolen from me. If I can't get this thief to change, then I guess I will change myself. Let's hope it does not come to that since it would be an unnecessary time-waster.

the poor cloth;) you have a prevention theory. but i really wonder why do we find it embarrassing or annoying:) and yes when one makes something especially with the personal touch s/he most probably won't like it to see somewhere else. but it's not so in my case:)

I don't really care enough about clothes that I would discard something that was my favorite just because someone else was also wearing it. If anything, I would be amused by the fact that apparently someone else had my taste, since I'm really not enough into fashion to usually wear things others would wear. =p
When it comes to avatars, I would be pretty annoyed if someone had the same one as me because I animated it myself. The pictures are from an anime, so I suppose if someone had just one frame of it or a different animation, I wouldn't care because they obviously also just liked the character. But taking the exact same frames and putting them together the exact same way would be too much coincidence for me!
Even if someone did steal my avatar, I wouldn't likely change it, at least not right away. Maybe after I found more pictures of the same character that I really liked I would though.

Usually it's not that my clothes are so odd, just that they aren't likely to be new or whatever is in style. My favorite items always seem to be things I picked up secondhand, usually several years after they were actually in fashion. Or I'll buy that outfit on the sale rack that everyone else passed over and find some way to use it creatively by mixing and matching pieces with things that aren't obvious choices.

i m wondering about your "especial choice" of cloths.lol i agree it would be indeed a stealing if someone has exactly the same avatar which you made by yourself! but in mycase i just copied it from a russian site, so it isn't very disturbing for me!;)

well to b honest it has happened wid me ..i was in shimla just roaming on d mall road .i was wearing black t shirt of brand in excess and a brown cargo,,then i saw a man coming from front n wearing the same brand t shirt n the cargo.when we both passed each oher we were smiling at each other..it was really funny but not humiliating though....well after dat i have wear that coz who knows we gonna meet again,.;)

I will not discard my favourite dress .. if I saw the same dress worn by someone else .. but yes I will discard my avatar -- of mylot .. if I saw someone else -- having the same as mine ... because it will create confusions .. because our friends recognize ourself by the way of avatar only .. so I don't think it will be good to have 2 similar avatars here on mylot .. if it happens with me then I am going to discard my avatar .. but the thing is I really like my avatar .. and I will really mind if someone else take the same avatar as mine .. though they must not have stolen it .. but in that case I have to remove my sweet catty avatar.

This happened to me one time when I was in school. I wore a new shirt to class and then realised there was someone there in the same class wearing exactly the same kind of shirt. There was just a slight diffence in the colour shade but everything else was the same. It was quite a bit embarrasing at first because it looked like we were some people wearing some costume.

lol!maybe that person idolized you with that avatar..just kidding...well if i see someone wearing the same dress or any thing that the same exactly to my stuff hehehe of course i feel a bit shocked and shy...one of the most i hate is having the same stuff to a particular person...if i encountered like that i exactly keep that dress and not to wear it again lol!it S****!

I would never discard something because someone else had the same things as me . Often you see others with something you have and that is because there are not many places to shop in our area . Actually if one is going to buy a dress we only have one store to buy it from so the chances that someone is going to have the same as you would be quite high . I would probably comment about how I owned the same thing but that would be about it as it really wouldn't phase me one way or another .
If someone had my avatar though I would question that one though as it is my own picture and would be a little confused as to why they would want it .

I dont care about that much. I havent even changed my avatar yet....but maybe you will not see it next time if i change it.
Yeah, but the avatar does help in recognizing people and if you have something unique...you are not customed to like the other person who has the same avatar as you do.

If you buy a dress in a store and there are other dresses like it for sale. There is a chance you will someday find someone wearing the same dress as you. Same with avatars. if you get an avatar off th net, someone else is likely to have it. My avatar was made just for me so its highly unlikely anyone would take it. Unless they have the name snow. If someone came in using my avatar i would ask them to please not use it since it was made for me and i have the rights to it.

Fortunately for me, I haven't come across anyone wearing the same clothes as mine. I normally bought my clothes from a friend's boutique that has limited number of pieces for each style and design. In case I saw someone that looks like my twin, I will just shrug it off. It wouldn't do me any good to react on it badly or even be embarrassed.
As for my avatar, I doubt anyone would dare use it. It is my own personal pet bunny and copyrighted as well. Besides, I have been here long enough and am entitled to demand the others to change theirs should they use my bunny avatar.

it's same with me. but on one occasion i noticed a girl wearing exactly the same skirt which i had but fortunately i wasn't wearing it that day:)i agree that your avatar has become so much associated with you that no one is likely to copy it..but sometimes newbies get confused!;)

i don't like that people wear exactly the same things i do. But in the other hand it makes me feal good becouse it seams that that person likes what i am wearing and that means i have good tastes. in general i don't like it but i ussualy coppy the clothes that i see at the people on the street if i like it. In Madrid there is a shop with clothes where you can not find two clothes the same. There is only one piece of every model and if a person tell me that why i have copied his clothes i send him to buy clothes in that shop.

i have seen a few people at times wearing same clothes as me, acutally my sister lives 8 hours away roughly, and she come down to visit, and i come home and got changed into my pjs, and when my sister come home, she was in exactly the same clothes i was when i got home, so if i didnt get changed we would of been in same outfit lol. it was quiet funny. but my avatar is of me so i would hope that someone didnt have that on their avatar lol.

honestly speaking, sometimes i feel bad.. but if the one wearing it is one of my friends, specially when we agreed about wearing it the same day. it's fine with me.., i dont feel bad at all..

No problem, if someone wear exactly the same dress as I am wearing. I will be the happy person that someone has found the same choice as of mine.
As far as Avataar is concerned, do not feel bad, if someone has the same avataar, ....because you have different profile and the other member will have different profile and attributes. YOu are special...do not worry about that.

If it were a dress, I'd not discard it but wear it sparingly...hey, you got a cute avatar...however if every I'd discover someone else having the same avatar as mine, I'd change it right away...he, he, he. I don't want to be mistaken as the other person, it's good to have our own identity, so I guess it signals changing my avatar...as of now, I still can't change my avatar because I really don't know how...

in my case it really wouldnt matter...basically because im a guy...BUT if i was a girl i would probably not like it...i would either get a new one or tell her to get a new one
