Should teachers be held to higher standards?

I have many teachers in my family and I am curious if people think that teachers shouldn't be in bars or places that aren't reputable. What if a teacher that teaches your child had a job you didn't approve of what would you do? I am just curious about everyone's feelings on this issue.

I know teachers are intitled to have a private life but at the same time they are teaching our children and setting examples for them. My granddaughter went on a over night field trip last year and her teacher was drinking. It was in her room but the kids all knew about it. they were seniors but i still think that this teacher should not have been drinking when she is chaproning kids of any age. Teacher just need to be more careful about what they are doing. They are sort of like pastors. They are in the public eye and should live as they are.

I think that teacher's are people too! I don't think that we should limit their activities outside of work. How would you like for someone to tell you where you could and could not go. Just because someone goes to a bar and might have a drink or dance does not mean they are not a good teacher. I think this is just silly. Just my opinon!

Teaching is a profession. It requires deep content knowledge, a familiarity with ways to teach that knowledge effectively, and an understanding of how young people learn and grow. They also should maintain high standard of behaviour . They must set an example to students.

i also believe that teachers are not supposed to be held at a very high standards becasue they are also people like us who have tolead normallives. although they are teachers, they also should get a life of their own.

They are peopel too and they should be allowed to do as they please but when they are teaching they shoudl be professionals about it and dress and act the part.
