Did you have a pet when you were growing up?

I see so many kids without pets these days and I wonder why. When I grew up I had a black lab that followed me every where. My brother got him on the day they brought me home from the hospital because he got his 5th sister and had no brothers so the dog was the comfort I guess*L* I remember talking to that dog when life was hard as a child and cuddling up with him when I was scared. The comfort this dog brought me was so wonderful. How do kids without pets get that? Not saying that a parent is bad not giving a child a pet just wondering about it. I know we always had pets when I was young yet two of my sisters hate dogs and cats and wouldn't let their children have them. Moments with my pets are some of my favorite memories. So did you have a pet growing up and was it a comfort to you too?

Oh yes, we always had pets, I couldnt imagine life without them,...I think a lot of people these days just simply do not have enough time, I think its cruel...I always spent time with my pets they were great listeners in tough times and they also teach you responsibilty.
