why do some people get an attitude with the person who is making their food?

I've seen this many times and I've worked in fast food so I know what happens to customers food when customers are rude. Be nice to your servers and don't make them feel like they are beneath you because if you do. They will play in your food and do other gross things so be nice.

i've been a server too-i think a lot of times it's because these people know when they walk in if they complain a lot,they'll get their food comped.
or they just had a bad day and feel like passing the buck.usually the same people who think leaving pennies as a tip is funny.
