Have you ever been nabbed by a red light camera?

We have a few of these where I live. I'm always careful to stop for them. But, today, I was sitting at the light and I was looking through the rear view mirror. I thought the light had turned green and started to go only to notice it was still red. I don't think I entered the intersection and I didn't see any flashes go off, so I don't think it took any pictures of me, but I can't help but wonder. The thing I hate about these lights is that you don't know you've got a ticket until you get one in the mail two weeks later. Has anyone here actually gotten a ticket from one of these things?

We don't have any where I live thankfully, and most of the places I go don't have any camera's, or only have a small handfull of them. Whenever the camera's are present, I'm always careful though not to run the light or anything. I don't want a ticket, especially one that comes with a picture of me in the act.

I am always extra careful, too. I was especially careful not to trigger this camera, but I thought the light had changed and I was looking at the cop in my rear-view mirror. I don't really think I got a ticket coming because the mechanisms are complicated and it takes certain triggers to set off the camera. But, I hate it that I always wonder.

There are no such things where I live- I have heard about them- and am super glad they aren’t here- I sometimes roll through stop signs and run through yellow lights- I also at times start out a bit quick- So I’m sure I’d get them in my mailbox from time to time and I don’t need them- Where are you?? I’m in upstate NY-

I'm in San Diego. I think they're fine, except in weird cases such as the one that I mentioned. You wonder for about a week or two whether or not you are going to get that ticket in the mail. And, it costs a fortune!

My husband has. He thought he had time to make the yellow light, but it turned red just as he was getting ready to enter the intersection. Worst part about the ticket, I had just warned him about slowing down and that there was camera there. He was basically telling me off as the camera took his picture. They send you a citation and a copy of your photo. There's my husband looking in the direction of the camera with his mouth wide opened. Couldn't help but giggle, but the fine wasn't a laughing matter at all. It cost him around $263 + traffic school to keep it off his record.

That is too funny! It costs a lot more for a ticket now, though. I think it's over $300. And, if you go to traffic school, it's a lot more.

Yes I sure have and it made me so mad because it was icy out and I did not want to stop and slide, I think that weather conditions should be taken in a count for this. And yes I got a nice picture in the mail of me going through the light. Not fair!!!!

I wonder if you could have fought that. I know, it's such a pain to fight these things, but they are so expensive.
