Be persistant and never smack the pup, they have accidents and cannot hold on. Heaps of praise for good behaviour. After every meal and whenever you think of it take the pup to whereever you want it to go to the toilet. When it does give it praise. You must be persistant with this and it will eventually learn, not straight away but it will.
