Generally, "high speed internet" is anything faster than 56k dialup. So yes, high speed internet is DSL. Depending on locations, cable internet services can be faster than DSL, up to 2mb/s (I believe DSL is up to 768kb/s now...) Hope that helps!

I'm not a real expert, but I don't think so. It depends on whether or not the modem is your phone line. High speed generally ties up your phone line and you pay for higher speed from the company. DSL uses another modem and does not tie up your phone line. Generally, the slowest DSL is faster than the fastest high speed internet.

High speed, broadband and dsl is somewhat synonymous. There are different types dsl, Adsl and a couple of other variants. Dsl means you use LAN or WLAN connection and no dial up via modem. Dsl is high speed. You get it in various fast speeds. DSL is a fast connection.
