I'm terrifed of thunderstorms. Not the thunder but the lightening. As a kid our house was hit and we had blue sparks coming out of the TV antena. Also when I visited Miami, I was racing from the parking lot to the store when lightening hit the ground behind me. I don't know how close it was but my back, back of my neck, legs and arms were burnt!! Since then any signs of thunder make me shudder, but I try not to show because of my kids. Anybody else terrified? Please share your stories and also how you cope. dreamjapan

I'm terrified too, i once experienced when lightning hit the ground beside me. iwas really shocked but wasn't hurt. The sounds are really scary specially when it is accompanied by lightning. I just go inside my house and try not to hear the storms.

I wanted to respond before but we had an awful thunderstorm roll in!! Actually the sound doesn't bother me it really is the lightening. Once it starts flashing I head for a place as far away from windows as possible. Last summer I was outside on our balcony which gives a wonderful view of the mountains here. I was watching the storm over the mountains, black sky and incredible lightening, but it was far away so I was okay. The sky overhead was blue and clear but within a minuete it changed and there was a large flash of lightening in the field next door. Boy did I move it, the kids thought it very funny, until they saw how white and scared I was. I can hear thunder again so am going to shut down the computer. dreamjapan

i think most kids are afraid of thunder. my nieces are afraid too. when i was young, i am too. maybe because of its sound that is so strong and specially when it comes with lightning that it become more frightening.
