No, not the smoker's pipe!;) I'm talking about the noise, especially when I am sleeping.
What about you guys, can you sleep with noise coming from different areas?I have times that I just want to get a simple, quiet sleep. Because of stress, I easily get annoyed by the noise that comes from people. Just like what my neighbor does, they always shout and yet at each other.
As if they are talking mountains apart, it really disturbs my sleep! Even a simple noise that I hear, it wakes we up instantly..
Have you sometimes felt like this, that a noise suddenly disturbs your sleeping habit?

It really depends on my mood. There are times when noise don't matter as much especially if I have the fear of being alone, it's always good to hear someone doing something.
But sometimes, specially when I'm awfully tired or have crankiness, the slightest sound would really upset me.
But most of the time, it's ok.
How bout you? How do you deal with the noise if it annoys you?

What I noticed that when the lights are put off and I lie down, I get to hear all the noises around me. I then made an observation and I found out that when we sleep all other sensory input become less active except the auditory senses so the nerve is focused on that. That is why even the tick-tock of the clock that we don't get to notice most of the time suddenly becomes annoying.
So, Yes, I get so annoyed not by my neighbors because my apartment wall is sound-proof but by the clocks that's why I used digiclock now because it doesn't have any noise.

The people across the road have lately started to keep chickens. The rooster can start crowing a little after 3am, but usually 4am, and yes, it wakes me up. Because it continues to crow till sun-up, I'm up and about and on the computer at a very early hour sometimes. At least I can get some relative peace and be uninterrupted at that time of day...except for the blasted chickens of course. Hopefully, I'll get used to it in time.

An apartment I used to share with an officemate was located in front of a busy avenue. And as expected, the noise the traffic makes is disturbing our sleep. On our first few weeks in the apartment, we could not really get a good night's sleep. But then, we got used to it and somehow managed to get some shut eye.
I have now relocated to a another apartment and the first thing I considered was the noise. My apartment is now located a good distance from the street so everything is now quiet:P

I used to be a very light sleeper...not any more. Mylotting helps me sleep soundly because my brain is tired from sharing so many ideas with people from all over the world!LOL
When we travel and stay in hotels with a lot of street noise...that has kept my hubby and I awake. We moved from a larger city to a very small rural community to get away for the noise...so going back is very 'sleep disturbing.'
What I have done to assist me in sleeping is put on some relaxing music...brian-sync works well. It is a combination of music, affirmations that brain synchronization tonalities that 'synch' the left and right hemisphers. Information is on-line..keywork hemisynch or brain-synch. There is a lot of it out there these days.
Anyway..works for me. Hope you find a way to get some sound ZZZZZZZZZZZ's. We all get brain fogged without it.

I cannot be woken up with a simple noise while sleeping, but just in case, I do wake up, I think bout the dream I was having while sleeping earlier and then get sleep again, lol!!
