Could you imagine having another attack just like Columbine? 2 teenagers in New York were planning another attack on their school just like Columbine. One of them dropped their journal in the parking lot of McDonald's where he works and it was found. It had all the details inside. The police even discovered a video identical to the one the attackers made in Columbine. This attack was planned for the 9th anniversary of Columbine...April 2008. What has gotten into these kids? I don't understand why they would think of resulting to violence. Are things really that bad for them? I guess they would have to be mentally disturbed to some degree to even think such a thing. And I wonder what their parents must be thinking and going through? http://news.aol.com/story/_a/teens-plotted-bloody-attack-cops-say/20070713170009990001

I didn't hear about that. But that just sent a chill through me because I'm a college sophomore and all these things happening in NYC. What with these terrorists and these college attacks, its just scary to think about all of this and thinking about wherether i'm going to be alive the next day.

Another thing that is scary is that it was probably due to luck that he dropped his journal. Well Im sure he sees it as bad luck really. If he hadnt dropped it then I dread to think what could have happened.

Kids with not enough chores, parents at home that are involved and perhaps prescription medication just like the Columbine kids. The world is becoming less for family and more for individual. We need to be in groups and families are a good place to start. Then your groups in school which are becoming less since the money is not there to encourage this. I don't see this getting any better and am glad that this was stopped before it could exhibit the badness on the news.

Hey jbb316, I think I remember seeing this on the news-I agree the kids are emotionally disturbed but it's not all the parents fault.I feel sorry a little bit for the parents of these children-but they do hold some of the responsibility. +'s |:)

The parents must be devastated for sure. However, I must add something. (and I hope I don't take a lot of grief about this). As a parent, I can tell if my children are troubled. I see signs in them when they are sad or bothered. Why won't parents get help for their children before it comes down to something so horrendous as this diary? If the kids at school noticed that this child was troubled, why couldn't the parents see? Why didn't the teachers tell the parents? Why didn't some adult get help for these boys before now? I work in mental health and it never ceases to amaze me how we tend to ignore mental health issues but rush our children to the doctor at the slightest sniffle of a physical illness!
