I am a big reader, I read at least 4 to 5 books every month. Everyone once in a while there is a book that i find that i go around telling everyone that i know, "You have to read this book!" When was the last time you said that to someone and what book and author was it. For me it was Susie Orman's book Women and Money. Every woman should read this book.

My sister in law said I had to read a book by Jodi Piccoult called My Sister's Keeper. She had a cousin that was going through the same thing the little girl in the story was going through. Sadly to say she passed away.

This is a brief synopsis of it. I read the book in one night and just could not put it down. Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate - a life and a role that she has never questioned… until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister - and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable… a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves. My Sister's Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life… even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less?

Thank you for this good advice. I will try to pick up a I would like to have something to relax with in the night and reading a book used to make me sleep. So thanks Sis for this and I like your way of thinking..I have spread myself so thin and need to take a break sometimes lol. We all need to rest sometimes from working hard..and learn how to work smart lol.

I haven't read any financial stuff lately, but I did read Susie Orman's first book. The two books that I have really been telling everyone about lately are Khaled Hosseini's "A Thousand Splendid Suns." He is the author of "The Kite Runner," which sold more than 4 million copies. He is a great writer, and I think the second book ("A Thousand Splendid Suns") is even better than his first. It's a novel about two women living in Afghanistan. The second book is for writers and is by Anne Lamott, called "Bird By Bird." It's a great how-to book for all those would-be writers.

About three months ago my parents told me I just had to read the book "90 Minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper. They liked it so much they bought copies for everyone, including the ladies that cut their hair. So they forgot to save me one! When money is less tight I plan to find it on sale and give it a try.

I sure will. And it IS nice, you're right, to get book ideas from other people. Often they have reading material I never thought of, but am glad to know about.

The last time I heard "you have to read this book" was reading this thread! It's been over a year since someone has suggested a book to me. I don't remember the exact title of the book but it was by Nicholas Sparks. The last book I told people they have to read is the Left Behind series. I told everyone I thought would be interested.

Its been quite a while since someone sugested a book to me, as its usually me saying "you have to read this book". My eldest daughter was the last person to recommend a book and it was Ugly by Constance Briscoe. Sadly, i haven't got round to reading it yet.
