There are currently several funding opportunities for organizations that work with kids. Most are geared for schools and day cares but some are for other youth groups. This list was taken from the Kids Gardening.com site. It is a great site to find all kinds of information on kids and gardening. I hope you can use some of these grants to help the kids in your communities. This is just a partial list and if you would like to have more listed, just add the request in the comment area and I will try to add more later. Disney Minnie Grants ~ Deadline: August 30 The Walt Disney Company and Youth Service America are pleased to announce grants of up to $500 to support youth-led service projects. These grants support youth (ages 5-14) in planning and implementing service projects in their community. Teachers, older youth (15-25), youth-leaders, and youth-serving organizations are also eligible to apply, provided that they that engage younger youth (5-14) in planning and implementing the service. Service projects must take place between October 1 and November 26, 2007. Projects can address themes such as the environment, disaster relief, public health and awareness, community education, hunger, literacy, or any issue that youth identify as a community need. Past Disney Minnie Grantees are also eligible to apply. Visit the site at http://ysa.org/AwardsGrants/tabid/58/Default.aspx for full details. This is what I do for a living! My job at the school is to write grants for the various projects that we have going on all over campus. It is very rewarding, and this time of year, it is very busy. I have actually applied for our school for a couple of these. We are a private school, so we don't qualify for some that are out there.
