Do you listen to your body?

Sometimes, when we are so consumed by work, or just anything that makes our mind very busy, we don't usually know that something is already up with our bodies. I can go on for around three straight days without sleep if I have to. I don't really feel anyhing unusual after that. Well, at least I think I don't. And because I have a rather high level of tolerance to pain, I can't usually say right away that something is wrong with my body. But now, I think I'm learning to 'listen' to my body. Do you listen to your body? How can we be more sensitive to the 'pleas' of our bodies? Anyone?

Usually, some of these ailments are silently accumulating in your body. The bast way is through preventive measures. I suggest doing a bit of Tai Chi in the morning to sooth spirits.

I am sure you will agree with me that our Mind takes over body whenever we choose to be in peak state (MOTIVATION)due to which we may not notice that we are tired. (State of Mind and Motivation helps people to walk on fire without injuring the bare foot). If you want yourselves to listen to your body, you may choose to do that. Life offers choices to us and it is for us to choose the best for us in our life.

well fortunately, i only work part time, so if i am not feeling well, i can take the opportunity to rest when i get home. i have a lot of problems with my knees, and if i have to sit and rest, i do...its a great alternative to the pain!!

To a certain extent, I am a pressure cooker, and my body enjoys the exercise. It is only when I am free that the body will start to signal I need a break. I do listen to it. It is well-known that when I am on medical leave, the project is already signed off.

Listen to one's body - It is always best to listen to one's body in order to avoid the dangers of having stress and pressures affect our health.
I am especially interested with this discussion because it strikes a familiar note...you're right...we really have to 'listen' to our body...there were also times that I just work and work, not minding whether I am tired or not, or whether I have eaten or rested...but with my conditon (I went through two major surgeries), I really need to slow down a bit and rest for my sake. I even collapsed from exhaustion,5 months after my second major operation. My two grown up kids and my husband had to plead with me to rest and not to overdo things...Yes, today I listened to my body...had a high blood pressure this morning, and I had to see a doctor..tomorrow, I will be subjected to lab tests to rule out certain illnesses...

I cannot ignore my body as sleeping for me is so impotant. Maybe I am lazy to push myself so hard. Perhaps what body want to tell you is not only by those pains or sick, if you sense it, you got it.

Body condition vary according to age. In youthful age, whatever misuse you do of the body, it can tolerate because the blood is hot - elders say. After 40, man/woman loose control on various parts of the body - not at once but one by one, unless one keeps all parts in good condition by using it properly, without overdoing it or leaving it lazy.

I'm pretty healthy and seldom go to the doctor. I think I can tell if I'm really getting sick, so I guess I do listen to my body. However, even if I think I'm getting sick, I usually wait about a week to go to the doctor! I don't believe in overusing medications as I think most people do. My friend goes to the doctor at least once a month with one problem or another, and can't believe it when I don't go! In her case, I think she listens too much.

Sometimes I forget to listen to my body thats why I often suffer the consequences of being too insensitive. I just got sick a few days ago and it was a realization that I need to rest and take care of my body coz it not, there will be more time in bed and its just what I hate. I dont bother going to work everyday and getting those nags coz its a normal thing. Being in bed is the thing that I detest the most. I have learned my lesson the hard way so im extra careful now.

I used to ignore those little aches and pains too, until I experienced not being able to move my left shoulders and arms because of rheumatism and I was only in my late 20's back then. It was painful, and scary. I had to consult a doctor and underwent therapy for that, now I am more careful with my body. WHen I get too stressed out I usually would get a massage to help me with the stress and to get my circulation going.
