What television show deserves more attention?

We all hear that television watching is a waste of time. Are there shows people should watch, but many people aren't watching now or not as many people watch that could learn information from the show? Today I was flipping through channels while eating breakfast and couldn't find anything to watch. I know your all surprised, as my profile has a lot of television. I did find one show that has changed so drastically that I didn't like the changes and turned it off. The show is Sesame Street. If you haven't viewed the show in awhile, then your in for a big surprise. I can understand change is good, but that was to drastic for me. Sesame Street helped my youngest daughter learn her letters and I'm sure has helped many other children. One change that saddened me was Cookie Monster, who now wants us to limit cookies. I think we all limited cookies to our children and just wanted to enjoy seeing the character enjoy cookies.

They had a series on Discovery Channel recently called Planet Earth that was absolutely incredible. You can now pick up the entire series on DVD...highly recommended especially for nature show fans. Unfortunately most of the better shows that aren't seen are cancelled before they can gain any type of real following, the best example of which recently was Arrested Development...that show was pure genius

I watched the Planet Earth Series and plan to buy the series to watch it again. It was great! I was a huge fan of Arrested Development, which was one of my favorite shows. The show had a great cast. Thanks for the reply.

well i think miami ink deserves more attention. because a lot of people despise tattoos. even though they might not want one but at least they will have an insight the significance of tattoos. people do not have tattoos just for the sake of having them. but they have deep reasons and stories why they are getting inked. tattoos symbolize their stories and precious memories that they want to cherish and to express themselves. tattoo is a very delicate art. they are permament and are very different from the usual paintings we grasp and have respect for.

I taped the show and watched it, as several people have told me its an informative show. It was interesting and the people on the show sure work hard at their work. I don't have any tattoos, but sure look at them in a different way now. Thanks for opening my mind to the show.

I remember some of these childrens TV shows when my daughter was very young. Although I didn't encourage a lot of TV viweing, there is no doubt that certain kiddies programs are educational. Sesame Street would have been one, although being American, they teach the alphabet differently the way we do, so I did not encourage parents to model this program. Play School in Australia is excellent.

Play School sounds like an interesting show for children. My favorite children show is Mr Rogers Neighborhood. Sadly, the star of the show passed away; however, my daughter, who is grown loved to watch the show even if it was a rerun. Thanks for sharing the television show, so I can tell my friends with young children to check it out.

NONE! People should turn OFF their TVs and get outside or do something constructive. Granted, there may be a few educational TV shows, but most of them are JUNK. Seriously, turn off the TV and go do something! Read a book over breakfast, go outside and play with your kids, take your dog for a walk, ride bikes! GO DO SOMETHING.

Hey momma hadn't seen you are here for a long time, glad that you are back. i do not think that television is a waste of time, i think that we waste too many time watching tv without being focused on what we really want to see. I know that it may sound stupid but i watch about four to five shows a week, and i always at the start of each week look at the tv guide and decide what i want to see. I know that once i was an addict and now i do not want to waste my time jut sitting and zapping. There are very good shows on tv this days, i know that we have a channel which is numbered eight, and it is a documentary channel, and there are short movies there that usually involve research and humanity and it is wonderful. About the cookie monster, here you got me, you are absolutely right, who wants to limit the cookies that we eat? I would prefer another monster on the show. :)

I have missed talking to several of my friends that my husband told me to slow down and spend some time on the board. He reminds me that life is to short to work all of the time. I realize he is right. This season, I'll be watching less shows, as I taped to many last year that are still not watched. Last night, I wrote down the shows that I really enjoy and those that are just background noise. My list sure became very short and will have more time for typing and reading posts. Thanks for the good wishes.

I agree great channel. There was a great episode on building a pond, which was great for the beginning, as they didn't skip any of the steps. Many shows on television just go to fast for a beginning, but not hgtv. Thanks for the reply.
