Yes it will help. Sometimes during the summer where I live the water starts to smell of algae pretty bad. Boiling helps kill some of the smell. I, too, just buy bottled water for us, and my dogs will drink anything I put in front of them but I know people who boil their water around her to kill the smell.

I think boiling it won't do anything for the taste. It just might kill off some germs or something. The taste is probably a lot of additives to make it "safe" to drink, but which probably is so many chemicals you can't help but taste it! So sorry about that, but I don't drink our water either. Of course, I defeat the idea when I use our water to make ice! LOL

It might do all you can do is try it because what you are doing is sterilizing it and then filtering it so it should improve the taste really
If not stick to your Bottled Water
Does it taste ok when you boil it to make Tea or Coffee if it does then it should be ok

I thought that the smell was caused from bacteria and that boiling water removes the bacteria- I could be mistaken, I don't have well water but when we have a problem with our water system they make announcements to boil the water before using. If you are no positive then stick with the bottled water.

That is funny the cats will not drink it. LOL Try boiling it. The worst it can do is make your house stink. LOL
You might be able to boil it and mix it with bottled water to save a little $$.
