Moving the holiday

United States

I read an article this morning that said that Church Officials in Ireland had decided to move the St. Patrick's Day holiday up two days, celebrating March 15th, in order to avoid a conflict with Holy Day. This is the first time it's been moved since 1940. Do you agree or disagree with moving the "Celebration" day. Banks celebrate holidays on Monday's so they can have a long weekend. (i.e. presidents day etc..) Is this practice done in your country?

So, they are moving it to the Ides of March - that's propitious.

Go figure right? I'm not familiar with the Ides of March, so I can't really answer this post fully. Perhaps you would enlighten me so that I can learn something new today.

I hope that they will not change it here in the US. I have quite a bit of Irish heritage and look forward to the celebration, even though it's primarily a Catholic holiday, and I'm not Catholic. I still can't deny who my ancestors were can I? Besides, I look good in green.
