I usually say how ya doin?, Whats' up? Or the oh so famous what's up head gesture! 
If it's a person I know, specially on the phone, I always ask, "So whatcha doin?"

how are you,this is the most common:)or how was your day..or how is your family and stuff like that,boring but common things..i actually don't know why people keep asking how are you,when everybody sais i am fine..:P
