Absolutely, I always keep some money in the house for emergencies, but that is because I don't use a credit card - now you can use a credit card for almost everything from booking tickets to paying hospital bills so may be it is different for those who use credit cards.

It's not a crime but I think I would prefer to keep my money at the bank. YOu don't get interest if you just keep the money under your mattress

It would not be wise. The best place for your money in the bank. It costs more to save it in your house, buying a safe, getting a combination, also an alarm system. Besides there is the interest rate you get in the bank. Only keep enough for necessities.

well, I think it is a difficult question. I guess if you had a safe, for emergencies, like if it was a weekend and couldnt get to the bank, or whatever, but my grandparents had $2,000 saved in their house in a safe and someone stole it, and there is nothing you can do about it really. So, it wouldnt be the best choice.
