I was afforded the opportunity to teach a poetry workshop. It was so exciting! There weren't a lot in attendance but just the opportunity to share my talent and gift and what writing means to me was so fulfilling. Anyone else had any wonderful things happening with writing?

I'm beginning to suspect that there are not a whole lot of people interested in writing here at mylot. I could be wrong of course, but I'm thinking that for the most part they're here to make friends, have fun, or make extra money. I used to write a lot of poetry myself, but I wrote my best poetry when I was hurting... it was a way for me to transform something painful into something beautiful, so when I stopped putting myself in the kinds of situations that evoked such painful responses my poetry suffered. It also suffered when I realized that I wasn't going to be able to make a living writing poetry. I found an e-zine that publishes flash fiction though, and that is almost like poetry, so I'm going to be giving that a go... if I can get out of this 20 years of writers block! What kinds of things are you doing now? I wonder if you're even still around here at mylot? I forgot to check your profile to see if you were before I responded. Oh well.

Im back on mylot. I know what you mean about hurting producing the best work. It seems strange that I dont write when happy but maybe i dont sulk or sit down to take the time to right when happy. I am on the go then and enjoying the company of others. Sad really I would love to produce some work that was free from angst.

Hehehe, yeah, poetry that is free from angst is pretty boring actually, hahahahahahaahahaha! Oh well. On the other hand I have managed to write a couple of little 'stories' that are rather poetic that were born out of joy! So anything's possible!
