When all things fail, where do you get your strength?

Jesus, my Shepherd - He's my life, my strength, my All. To Him, I surrender everything. :)

I am blessed with a loving and solid family. I am very much thankful for this gift. My family gives all-out support in my every endeavor. But I am aware that each of us in the family has other issues to deal with. My brothers go through some personal issues, as well as my parents. I cannot just pour out every negative energy that I had on them. Whenever failures, disappointments, frustrations and doubts overwhelmed me, I get any inspirational book and copy the inspirational lines I read from those books. This morning, I found this Post-It, written below, on my dresser. (My dresser will soon be full of inspirational Post-its.) hehe... =) ------------------------------------- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; Do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take." - Proverbs 3:5-6 -------------------------------------- Such a wonderful promise from an amazing God, isn't it? How about you? When all else fail and when you're on the verge of giving up, where do you get your strength? What do you do to cope up with life's struggles?

Just like anyone else we all face troubles, trials and sufferings in life. I feel it is part of growing up as people of God to prove to Him that we are worth His children and that we are committed to Him. Personally, when I am depressed and I feel that I have no one to turn to, I sit down in a corner of the room and meditate. I do pray to the Lord and ask Him to give me strength to overcome all these hardships. To me, prayer is the most effective means to unload the burden you have been carrying through. For I believe that God will not allow anyone to face a trial that is beyond his ability to endure. Every temptation will be accompanied by a way of escape so anyone can endure it.1 Corinthians 10:13 This are the verses that I am holding on unto this day whenever I am facing trials. James 5:13 - "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray." Philippians 4:6,7 - "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God." Thanks for coming up with this kind of discussion. God bless.

Hi ryanphil01! You're very much welcome. And thank you, too for the wonderful verses you posted on my discussions. You are right. All of us encounters troubles. From time to time, we are shaken so that we'll know that we have a more powerful God. Sometimes, I think that problems are God's ways to catch our attention so that we'll turn to Him, who is the more powerful. (",) Have a great day, rye! :)

My situation is like yours. If I have a failure, then my family always be myside and they all support me. They are my drive to work and live well everyday. I pay attention to the family very much. They are the reasons for me to struggle to have a better life.

Prayer and meditation is often where I go for strength. My husband is my next greatest sorce of strength. And then finally I make time for a really good work out. When things feel like that are falling in on me a combination of all the above seems to pull me through.

My parents are my inspiration. If i am having troubles they are always there. Of course my hubby is there too, but sometimes you need someone else. I also have a couple of very close friends that i can turn to. Best wishes to you, sr

Hello there sr0415! When things start to fall for me I receive my strength from the lord. Yes, I have family but it is the faith in my heart and soul that gets me to the next day. I believe that there is a reason for everything and each time that I struggle I know that there is something to be learned, it is through my struggles in life that helps shape me into the person I am today. I have so much faith in the lord, thus he is the one I turn to in every aspect of my life. I hold him in my soul as he is the light that shines through me. There have been many times in my life that things have become hard, but never once have I contimplated giving up, thus giving up would mean that I have faith in the lord. To loose faith in the lord would leave a black spot in my sould where his light shines through.

I do not really know where I get my strength, it comes to me when it can. I guess whenever I get over the reason why I feel that way, everything comes back to normal.

Thank you very much for such a heart warming and inspiring post, this is a reminder that the word of God is indeed a source of strength and our only hope and the one that we can cling to in times of trouble and despair. Its there to carry us through those dark times and as God promised he will fulfill His promises and it will come to pass.

I have a very nice family, even my parents are well and supporting but I get most comfort from prayer and reading the Bhagvad Geeta. The very thought of God being with us in all our troubles is very heartening.

nothing else but the Lord who gives strenght to everyone who comes before Him and seek help. the family who are always close to us but sometimes they do not really understand what ones feel when in distress. But mostly when everything else fail, relief is just a prayer away.
