Have you noticed any funny names kept for dogs or cats or any other pets?

Usually dogs are named as tommy, browny, blacky etc. My neighbour kept her dog's name as sunitha, which is the name of a girl. Nobody, as for as I know, has kept that name to dog. Have you noticed any unusual or funny names kept for pets?

As a matter of fact YES, our new little puppy's name is RaZzarr, we named him after the razorback pig lol, he is a tiny tea cup longhair Chihuahua/MiniMaltese mix, wonderful cinnamon color with lighter under coat and when he gets excited or mad the long hair on his head and down his back stands up, and he has an attitude... we love him so, and wouldnt change his name for anything, have never heard of anyone else calling their dog RaZzarr or even the typical spelling razor...

There was a neighbour of mine whose dog was called Ask him. When I first asked my neighbour what was her dog called, she said Ask him. I thought she was joking, so I repeated my question, and she repeated her answer patiently each time till I realised that she was repeating his name. I also remember a man who had named his dog after his boss. His theory was that each time he wanted to shout at the boss he would call for his dog and do so. He later on, of course, made up to his pet and over a period of time the dog realised that it was a routine he would have to live with as long as he was in that house. It was especially bad in the evenings when the man would return from work. The dog would just listen till it blowed over.

Poor dog it has to bear the negative moods of his master for the attitude of his master' boss. This Ask him is funny. Thanks.

What is normal for some is funny to others, I know of people who think it odd to give pets names as in names like ones people have, such as Sam, Duke, etc I also know people who think it odd not to give their pets real names. So I suppose it is a matter of opinion, cats named Henry and Bob are fine, as are dogs named Sam, and Bo, but then naming animals smokey, and buttons seems fine as well I did know of one person who had two dogs named them Frick and Frack. Even knew a dog who answered to the name of Ugly, his original name was Fluffy, he had been mistreated and the family that took him in and rescued him started saying he was so ugly he was cute, since they kept saying Ugly around him but with warmth and affection he began to respond to that more than he did his name. He was a rather ugly dog in terms of his coat and looks but one of the most beautiful dogs in terms of his playfulness and loving nature. so I suppose unusual names would be dogs named Ugly, Frick, Frack, bird named Lavender [like the color] cat named Spot [as that had been traditionally a dogs name] turtle named Fluffy [not sure why but the 3 yr old who got the turtle insisted on naming it fluffy]

We have a dog named Titchiba :) Very orignal & i love it - we didn't name her but her original owner did :) We also have a bird named Grinchy, a cat named POJU (she looked like our old cat Po - so we called her Po-Junior - or POJU), we also had a cat named Linguo (ling-gwo), another was Buttons & another was Tiddles! Oh, my old cat's name was different - she was the runt of the litter so i named her - LITTLE ONE!!!!! I'd like to name our next dog - Yoshie - but we wont get another dog for a few years yet because we already have 4 little ones :) That's enough for us for the moment!

This POJU po junior is really cute. Other names too sound very new to me. I think you can answer some discussions wherein they are asking for names for their pets.

Hi dear, For kitten, we use the name humans.. But for dog, here no one use... When two persons were in angry, the most using word is dog and pork... That means for getting satisfaction while on angry towards other, we call them dog.. So how we put the name of human to a dog.. Here in my house, there is a cat and its name was isoor... The name comes from two of my brother... Their name was Ishaq and Mansoor.. The first two letters from Ishaq that is IS and last three letters from Mansoor that is OOR is taken out then joined to get a new name. It is ISOOR... And put that name ISOOR to our kitten... How is the name... Very much care on putting names for kitten.... But dogs don't care.. Put like Tommy, Browny as you said... Some times earlier i had a dog and its name was Gimmy... Its the an western name... I think in western countries they care the dogs as much as we care for cats here... Thats all dear friend, thank you.....

When I was a kid my brother and I named each of our pets after another type of animal: the fish named Dog, the dog named Cat, the cat named Turtle, the turtle name Hamster, the hamster named Fish... *giggles* I have no idea when it started or whose idea it was, but the whole habit of naming pets this way went on for a long while.
