i have a 3 years old son. i already started to potty train him since he was 2 and a half. he doesn't have any problem when he wants to wee wee. the problem is he doesn't like to 'pupu' inside the toilet. he wants to wear the diaper. can anybody give any tips to me how to overcome this?

huh thats funny that he likes to wear the diaper because he doesnt like the smell, I agree try leaving him in it a bit longer then you normally would or the treat idea works too! Or put him in big boy underwear and (although a bit messy) the experience of having a real accident might give him more reason to try using the toilet. but everychild is different and will eventually get the hang of it when they are ready, just sometimes as parents we want that day to come faster then it does!

I have two kids of my own. My firstbon, a boy, started going to the toilet for #1 and #2 when he was already 3, and I started to train him when he was 2. My second child gave up diapers when she was just 2. I guess it all depends on the maturity of the child. But you can also try to keep the diaper on him with the poo for a longer time so he will feel icky and would try to go to the toilet next time he feels it coming. And maybe offer a reward (a toy, a trip to the burger joint) when he successfully makes it.

Lol. Raising a kid is sure lot of fun. I wish I had one, but I haven't been blessed with any yet. Well, forget about me for now. Let's concentrate on your son. I have a niece who doesn't like to pupu inside the toilet too. She will do it everytime using a diaper. Her case is exactly like your son's. What her mother did was, allow her daughter to sit in on the toilet seat and equip her with a favorite book of hers. Let her occupy her time and accompany her while she sits there. Now she had succeeded to teach her daughter to do her business in the toilet. I hope this helps. Have a nice day, and happy posting!

funky, my nephew is the same way. he's 3 almost 4 and he still wants to poop in his diaper. he freaks out if he doesn't have one and throws a fit. he went once on the toilet to poop and was constipated and since then won't go. so, make sure you give him some high fiber in his diet (sneak it in with the flax or other ways). while i think since he's almost 4 he should get over this, he still wears a diaper to bed at night as well. he'll wear it till it's all full in the morning and he sleeps late. his sister is 1.5 and she uses the potty at home during the day. i guess it's hard to take the diaper away from one and not the other. when my son turned 3 i was very strapped for cash and couldn't afford pull ups any more and told him that was it. i just stopped buying them and dealt with a mess for about a week but tht was it. now, my daughter 2.5 will soon get the same treatment. i think if they pee and poop in their undies it's more disgusting and they get the point faster. good luck. oh, they also took him to toys r us everytime he pooped but they were not consistent
