Ok I dont have the small black jumpy ones so that is a good thing. But none the less my cats have fleas and I am wondering if anyone has any ways I can get rid of them without going to the pet store and buying the expensive stuff. A friend of mine mentoned Dove dish washing soap works wonders. I am just courious if anyone else has any ideas.

It's just as well that you don't race to the pet store and get the various shampoos especially for flea control even the ones labeled more "natural" I found this interesting site all about taking care of fleas and the dangers of flea shampoos http://www.eartheasy.com/article_natural_flea_control.htm My suggestion is to give your kitty several baths and just use good ole Ivory soap...yes, your cat may not be too thrilled with several baths...after each bath use a flea comb and comb through...have a bowl of hottish water nearby and as you comb out the fleas dunk them in the water..that'll kill them I haven't had to deal with this problem for years, but one poor cat I had years ago, must have been the most bathed cat in the world..don't ask how many baths I gave the poor guy...but finally it got rid of them all

I am seriously considering the bath thing with traditional human body soap. I am just not looking forward to the actual bath thing tho my cats dont like taking baths at all. I have the hairball controll shampoo for cats and they hate getting wet. I am hoping to start good habbits with the kitten.

I tried giving our cats baths in the dishwashing soap. It didn't work. The fleas were just real clean and grease-free. You might try the flea drops at the store. I went to Walmart to get mine. There were 3 tubes in 1 pack for about $3.50. Or just a flea collar. They are about $1.50 You don't have to go to the pet store to get flea treatments. Check any discount stores or grocery stores. they'll have them.

no no, please please don't use the stuff from the stores, the over the counter stuff... i had one go into seizures because of that nasty stuff. get some frontline - it's ok for kittens that age. use it. then go to http://www.fleabusters.com and invest in a jug of that. it lasts forever and WORKS! just suck it up and spend a little money, or you'll have a flea outbreak the likes you've never seen. TRUST ME.

They do make a spray for ticks and Fleas for cats and that works great for both.. You can also buy flea collars.. I don't know if those work or not though my cats never had flea's before.. I have never heard of Dove dish soap killing flea's though.. Something new for me.. I seem to learn something new all the time here... I hope this helps!!

I have three cats and have found that Frontline has eliminated their fleas. I bought Frontline from my vet, but you may be able to find that product in pet stores. It works better than the expensive stuff sold in many supermarkets.
