Who is your favorite author? I have several. One of them is Robert Heinlein. I found 2 of his books that I didn't have at yard sales this weekend for less than 50 cents. WooHoo!!

Someone else on mylot was talking about this town yardsale earlier this week. You my have seen them there. Tell me about Robert Heinlein ---what kind of writing does he do. I like JK Rowling (of course), James Patterson - mystery, suspense. Stephen king - horror. Janet Evanovich - light and funny sort of mysteries.

Good deal...My favorite modern authors are probably Martin Amis, Donna Tartt and Edward Rutherford. The classics I reread every couple years are by Jane Austen, George Eliot, Thackery & Flaubert. I almost never re-read modern authors no matter how much I like them but I do wait anxiously for new books by my favorites....A lot of people seem to love heinlein. I just could never seem to get into Sci/Fi.

My favorite book is Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, but my favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut. He always includes humor in his stories, and seemingly random details, yet he ties it all in together neatly at the end, and it all suddenly makes sense. I love basically all of his novels; he never disappoints.

Heinlein and Marion Zimmer Bradley are tied for the number one spot with me. I also like Katherine Kurtz, J K Rowling, Agatha Christie, and Philip Pullman. I've read everything by these authors and wish I could write like them - maybe one day if I keep at it.
