I belong to a few Yahoo cat groups and I got this in my e-mail....It's a YouTube Video and it's called "A Very Special Cat" Warning:--you just might need some tissues, because I thought this was such a special video to watch http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=dJQG6V1MOVY

Bless his heart. He was precious. My Boots has a neurological condition, and he walks crooked, but he can still get around ok. He just doesn't walk straight, but it still doesn't stop him from following me around, and climbing. lol He is one of the most loveable cats that I've ever seen, and I wouldn't think of having him destroyed.

So Boots is sort of like Charley then, right--just goes to show that even kitties with disabilities can give out unconditional love...right?

That was really nice pywacket. Thanks for sharing. It was kind of sad but the cat doesn't seem to be bothered by it. I guess we are learning from the animals again.

It is a great lesson here...here is a cat with a disability, but continues on with his life like normal...how many people can say the same??

Thanks for sharing this. I will place this link in my blog, hopefully anyone who sees it will get the message. Some people might think it's better for the cat to be destroyed when they don't look normal, they think it hurts the cat to live that way, but this message will make them understand it's not always the case.

I'm sure glad those people who adopted him didn't concern themselves that he has a disability but were willing to love him as if he was normal

That was a cool video. I have seen Cerebellar Hypoplasia in cats before. It's sad, but they don't seem to notice the difference and are just as lovable as any cat out there. There's a lady in my area who takes in cats that are affected by this condition, she takes very good care of them, and adopts them out to loving homes while spreading the word about this condition and letting the public know that the cat will live a normal healthy life. I was thinking of adopting one myself, but right now we are in the middle of trying to get moved into our new home, so maybe after we get settled I'll take in one or two to add to the family. :) Of course my husband just rolled his eyes at me lol, but they deserve a loving home too. :)

This was the first time I was even aware of this problem in cats, and dogs....Dare I ask how many kitties you do have? LOL--I think even though your hubby may roll his eyes at the thought of new additions, I bet he's really good-natured about it

Ah--knew you'd liked that. I have a friend who used to have a cat with the same exact problem...she named him Flopsy...he's now in the land of Bast, but he lived for 16 years...That cat reminds me of some of my cats I had...not that they had the same problem, but were tiger-striped like Charley

Charley is indeed a very special cat, pyewacket. I have never heard of this condition, but it is a relief to know that he suffers no pain from it. I am a cat lover though I've never owned one of my own. Maybe this film will get the message out about this condition. Thank you.

That was a wonderful story you wrote. The video was heart warming. It did bring a tear to my eye. Charley seems like such a lovable little chap, and very happy. I'm glad that the cats don't feel pain from this condition. It is really a shame that people have cats in this condition put down. It is a waste of a life, and thats sad. I would never do that to an animal. We must love them unconditionaly. These animals really need us.

I've had so many tiger-striped cats in my life that I think the reason I was crying watching the video was that he reminded me of them...no they didn't have his problem...but just reminded me--and you're right animals like Charley do need us to care for them

Thanks pyewacket. It's good to get the message out so these cats aren't needlessly killed. What a charmer Charley is! And yes, I'm typing this response with tears in my eyes!

Hi Pyewacket, thanks for shareing the video. It just goes to show that not even a cat has to let a disability get in the way of happiness. A very special cat indeed. Take care, Terry

Wow, thats awesome I never knew about this and I have never seen a cat like that, I wonder what causes it. As long as they aren't hurting I can handle it. The awkwardness is kind of cute.

I actually just did an article over at AC about this...it's a medical condition usually inherited by a newborn kitten from its parents when they have feline panoleukemia

Truely a special boy. I have never seen such a problem in a kitty. I would love to adopte a baby with any any problem as long as they are loving.
