My wife and the kids are off to a Justin Timberlake concert tonight. I am absolutely horrified that my kids would want to attend something like this. My wife is a big fan of pop and hip-hop and I like, well, the darker side of music (look at my avatar for goodness sake). I thought I could mold my little angels into liking my stuff but they hate it and have opted for pop....I can only hope it's a phase they will grow out of.

Oh wow... I think your kids need plenty of musical education when they return. But if you've already tried to get them to listen to the good stuff, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe they will learn the error of their ways when they get older.

Oh I think pop music is ok, you have some pretty hottific pics in your profile, I don't think you have anything to worry about I am sure your kids will change their music preferences a few times, look at it that while they are at the concert you can keep good company with your friends here at Mylot... :)

The lyrics to most of those pop songs are usually about about how cool the song the artist is actually singing is..ha ha...

So do you have the pleasure of Justin Timberlake blaring in the house!!LOL My son used to be into Pink Floyd, Blur, when he was little, but about a year ago at 13 he has become a Drum and Bass maniac. We bought him a set of decks for his birthday and he mixes all the time. He constantly tells me he wishes he had been born in the 80's and now he wants to be a DJ. I think we have no control over what they like and sometimes they go the other way as its not cool to like the same music as your parents.

If you think you have it bad .. I have one that walks around singing Hannah Montana songs. Talk about hell on earth. I shouldn't complain, at least I now know what my parents had to endure when I would listen to KISS

I feel so sorry for you. It's bad enough that your kids wanna attend JT's concert..but your wife too??!! Oh no!! My heart goes out to you, man. I know you're really not looking forward to them coming home and spending the next few gazillion months talking and gushing over JT (puke!!). Oh ...and you have to see them wear those darn T-shirts too.

Luckily I love all types of music old and new. I think my husband is stuck in the '80's, lol. I think the heaviest I have listened to is Rob Zombie and Ozzie. Other's I just can't remember there names. My kids look at us both weird when we listen to music that's way past there time, lol. Honestly I wouldn't go to a Timberlake concert even with my kids. My oldest is 11 and she listens to what I listen to, which is good, but sometimes a oldie comes on and she is quick to try to change the station. I guess as she gets older along with her younger sister, I just have to deal with the fact my tastes won't always be the same as my kids. It won't stop me from listening to what I like. Music really does sooth the soul. A good song comes on when your mad about something and boom. Your singing along and you forget what your upset about.

So sorry hon, but it could have been worse. Snoop Dog *barf*, Brittney Spears *gag*, Paris Hilton *gasp*. If it makes you feel any better, my very first album was The Monkees, my second was The Partridge Family, my third was Black Sabbath. Yes there is always hope. ((hugs))

Hi inked4life! I think your little angels took after their mother...and that is good really. I like pop and hip-hop too! I guess, you're horrified with me, too! LOL! Have a nice day! Take care...

LOL. I would not worry too much about Justin Timberlake and other pop artists, and hip-hop is not too bad for kids if they listen to the clean stuff. I must warn you to watch what hip-hop music they listen to, much of it has swearing/cursing, I would definately be watching so they don't drift to NWA and gangsta rap....:D...In my younger days, i rebeled to listening to NWA and some hard gangsta music. DOn't get me wrong i loved it and still like it but it was mainly a fashion statement at my school.
