I did jury duty on Monday at the Federal court.First time ever in my life. The case was about the government vs this lady.(I rather not mention her name)The post office were missing money so an ivestigator installed small cameras to see who was stealing. The lady was caught on tape stealing on 10 different occassions. She was stuffing the money in her shirt and pockets.Anyway but guess what the case was dismissed. They did not have enough evidence. The government could not prove that she left the post office with the money nor the dollar amount that she took.I know that woman had to be happy.I was lookig at her facial expression she looked calm but as she was leaving the court she was walking 100mph.LOL (but she was tho).Have you ever served jury duty.Mine was only for a day and thats it.It was a privelage and a neat experience but honestly i dont want to serve again.I was there until 5 pm woo- i was tired.THease days they only pay $40 a day so i guess ill get that check next week.I'll treat myself to something nice.Have you ever served jury? How was it?Wanta serve again? How much did they pay when you served?

I have never served, never want to either. I would not be a good juror. Too stressful.

Hi dischavic! I haven't served jury duty because here in our country we don't have that kind of system. However, I just want to congratulate you even though the lady was not convicted. I am sure that the said lady has a tainted reputation now. Have a nice day!

yes i served jury duty a little over a year ago for about two weeks. i was on the grand jury of a guy who stoled the identity of couple and got 10 mortages and credits in their. it was over a milliion dollars. he got caught because he want to Home Depot and wanted all this crap and they didn't like the looks of his ID. after about half hour of him waiting he ran out of the store. and of course it was caught on tape. A$$ hole

ugh, I'm glad i've never had to be a jury yet. Here in spain only some trials have a jury, most don't, and i like it that way. But if i ever have to be a jury, i will.

I've served. Well for us you get Jury duty, it used to be if you were registered to vote, but since so many people refused to register because of that they changed it that if you have a drivers license and are 18 you can get jury duty. Doesn't matter about voting now. You can't get it twice within 3 years. You only get $15 a day. which isn't worth jack when your work won't pay for you for jury duty (and there are a lot of places that won't unless you take it as a vacation or personal leave day and I don't even get them so basically i lose a whole days worth of work for a whopping $15 bucks). I went once a few years back. Probably 5 or 6. The first time I got the notice the day of my jury duty we had a serious blizzard and courts were closed. I got out of it. So I got another notice 2 months later. I was going to be out of town. So I called to say i wouldn't be available and they rescheduled it for the day I'd get back. We had no trials that went to court that day. There were only three on the docket anyhow. So we got a 2 hour lunch, watched movies and got out an hour early, plus the $15 bucks. I still hope I never have jury duty again.

Yea thats really messed up to loose pay like that.iF yOU Dont serve you will be fined or 3days in jail. maybe both.I work overnights so my job had somebody to relieve me early so i could be at court on time.So you know i was tired. i used only 2hours of leave time to get off early.i thought $40 was nothing but $15 LORDY.

I was thinking $40 that's awesome! I did forget to mention our courts are in an area where there is no free parking, only garages and 2 hour coin machines and they will validate your parking. Yeah, I mean obviously you've gotta serve but it just sucks. I think serving should be a choice, not a requirement.

THEY PAY YOU FOR DOING THAT?!?!??!? thats sucks. i mean not because they pay you but because i served also for jury and when my dad picked me up (i cant drive) he explain why they call people out and told me that they do not pay. i went because the case was a cloth store owner and this guy. the guy wanted his money back because supposedly he bought this shirt that was already "ripped." i dont remember but it had to do with ripped clothes. i also stayed that late... 4:30pm around there. man i shouldve know.

I did jury duty last year, and was one of the 12 up in the seats being interviewed. It lasted the same length as your day, but I didn't get picked, thank goodness. It also wasn't federal. It was about this woman who received stolen property in exchange for weed. I read in the paper she was convicted.

I have never served jury duty. It looks kind of interesting to me, but I am not sure if I would like to do it. I would probably end up making excuses for the accused. I have been called as a witness three times though, through my job. I find that very stressful. The first times I sat at the courthouse the entire day before the prosecutor told me they did not need me after all. Nice huh?! I had been there all day, getting more and more nervous - for nothing! The second time I got to testify over the phone. That was sort of ok. The third time I got to testify in court. I was very nervous before it all started but it wss fine when I got to testify. It was kind of fun really. The defendant made no sense and was making contradictory remarks. I really wanted to do the work of the prosecutor and point that out. Kind of hard to have to only answer the questions!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the experience, disvachic, lol. I have always managed to wiggle out of serving for some reason I am not sure of. I guess I just don't have a lot of faith in the jury system. I have sat in on a couple of cases to watch the proceedings, however.

Hello! Well, i've never served jury duty at all, and i've never been to any court either. In my country the justice system is different. But i personally kinda want to do it. LOL! it fascinates me, guess because of what I saw on movies & tele shows. Is it the same in the movies, how they portray it and in real life court case? *just curious* hehehehe I'm glad you did enjoy the experience. When you get the cheque, treat yourself to something lovely! you deserve it pal! *smile*.. enjoy ! cheers! :D
