How does 'God' help those who ask for help?

We know miracles can happen and they do on very rare occasions through the act of prayer, whereby the person doing the praying just miraculously is healed - rare as hen's teeth. And considering hen's don't have teeth, you can imagine just how rare these things are. Even those hands on healers who seem to push energy through someone's body - yep the ill get up and say "hey, wow, I'm cured." Then a week later their pain is back. For some it's permanent - did I mention hen's teeth? On this forum you get allot of people discussing their aches and pains, sharing remedies, giving advice and generally giving comfort to those who are looking for a shoulder and a friendly ear. Tis a lovely thing to comfort friends, it can be a healing in itself. Now if you were in allot of pain and you turned your head to the skys and asked for assistance, how do you expect that assistance to occur? Are you waiting for a bolt from the blue that will miraculously stop your physical pain? Are you waiting for an idea to come that shows you what to do about it?

Hello Tetchie God helps those who help themselves. thats what i have been told from a young age and i beleive in it. He did give us a brain and rational thinking right?...so if iam in pain yes i will tell my friends but i will go to the doctor first didn't God make doctors? We were once told a story i will share it with you. Ok the story goes like this - Two young girls were late to school on their exam day and they would not find transport so one girl said lets start walking we might reach just in time. The other girl said no and knelt down and started praying. The first girl said fine you pray and i shall start walking and she reached school just in time but the second girl ofcourse was late and so missed the exam. We were asked to say who was correct, spiritual?. Most of us chose the first girl. It was God who gave her legs to walk and the brain to think and reach school. Thats what i beleive in. the second girl appeared more holy and religious but she was NOT using the gifts God gave us.

Well said. This is exactly what I was hoping to find in an answer to this question. It is wonderful to have faith but I see so many people sitting on their behind waiting for those miracles when in fact they are missing out on their own miracle. Finding that power within themselves to see and do and achieve and be amazing.

Tetch this is an interesting and problematic post. Because it involves the issue of religion. To my opinion everyone needs someone, somthing or some kind of energy to help him or her at difficult times. Everything that helps that person is welcome from my view of life. When a person believes that he has the strength to overcome tough situation he will overcome. The mind is a powerful thing, and the believe is a powerful thing, to my view when we believe that we are strong or are getting help our will of surviving will help us. it does not really matter in what way, it can be through hypnosis, a cry for god, a convincing sentence or just knowing that we can overcome the situation.

god helps everyone of them how are in need of help he helps personally but with the help of a person it can be anyone who can help you but that person is not helping but the god residing in his heart is helping you, some of instances i have also experienced where i have been helped by god but that time i didn't realise that it could be god.

Whatever it is, I still believe God will help me in whatever problem I am facing. It is just a matter of time. I don't expect my problem to be solved in a matter of minutes after I pray. I have to be modest, because God has so many other people in this world to grant their wish and I have to be grateful and patient while waiting. I know God has helped me because I can feel it. I think most of my wishes are granted, be it quick or slow. And God helps us in many ways. Sometimes he gives us an idea so we can figure out what to do. This is important because we are not supposed to sit and just wait. Initiative is the key to success.

God, or some divine source does help in many ways. I like your answer - take initiative and find a way, or be watchful for people who can help you.

From my own personal experience I have noticed that the way God anwsers our prayers is by giving us insight as to what to do to solve our problems. If you pray to him with an open heart, respect, and faith of course, he will definitely answer your prayers. I feel like he answers my prayers so quickly, it scares me sometimes. The answer never falls from the sky but it is iluminated in your mind in order to make you realize what you need to do or a sign is given to you. Therefore, pay attention becuase God works in mysterious ways.

Wow! Do you really look like your avatar? You're a hunk! Sorry I couldn't resist. Give you the right medicine, or allow you to meet the right person to help you and guide you - yes. Not just sit in a chair and wait for a lightening bolt.

I do not ask God to heal my pain. I accept the pain I have from my illness and will continue to live with it, though may not be happy about it at times. I have found blessings from having my illness and am thankful for the good things that have happened because of it. So I accept my pain. I will pray to God if I think I am going to throw up. I hate throwing up. And I usually don't end out throwing up. But then I take all the homemade remedies I can to prevent such a thing. I will not ask God for a soccer game win for my daughters. There are more important things to be asking for. Sometimes things in life happen that are beyond my control and I must leave it in God's hands. Then I will ask God to help because I have done all I can do. Don't be greedy. Be grateful. Only turn to God in a dire time of need. He will be there for you, just as He is during your good times.

God will help you in many ways. He will send someone to itnercede in a way. He will also help you when you make an effort, either physical or by faith. You have to believe. Actually, many times you can cure some or simple ailments by faith, concentration. That way, you are helping yourself, as the adage goes, "God helps those who help themselves." So one never have to wait idly for a big miracle!

Hi Tetchie, so great to see you...I've missed you. I used to expect a bolt from the blue...but not really expect it if you know what i mean. As I grew wiser I tried "send me the info I need to find my own remedy". Now I picture myself cured, well and healthy and I say "thanks" for it. "thank you for my healing" and "Thankyou for my wellness" or whatever I want or need. I say thanks for it. It works! You concentrate on a different part of you and say whenever you think of it "Thankyou for my weightloss" "freedom from muscle pain" fixing my aching lower back" what ever is worrying you ...you can say thankyou for your good luck, your happiness, the well being of family and friends....there are no boundaries....:)

Those types of prayers can be answered in many ways. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I used to work part time and would come home from work in tears from the pain (all the while popping two RX pain pills and two muscle relaxers every 4 hours!!)) I still have some pain and other effects of the illnesses BUT I am no longer taking any medication for pain. None except an occasional asprin for a headache! I still have a lot of fatigue but my 39 month old son does not sleep thru the night. Some nights he is up as often as every hour! How was my prayer for an end to my pain answered? I got pregnant with my son. I couldn't handle working as it kept making me sick. I spent most of the pregnancy in the hospital .... son born 3 months early.....fast forward to now... my son is special needs and I haven't worked since getting pregnant. The result - a HUGE DRAMATIC improvement in my health!!! Now when he starts sleeping thru then I will truly have my "miracle"!!
