even before starbucks, i had an addiction to coffee. but now i'm beyond the addiction for coffee, now i'm addicted to Starbucks coffee! we are 3 ladies in the office where i work and every morning one of us stops by Starbucks and gets coffee for all 3 of us. it's like celebrating the mornings for us! but before starbucks we didn't need it or demand it. i think this is what they call "supply makes demand".

LOL, supply and demand is very valid in this case.I think Starbuck's is certainly a cultural symptom of consumerism and polished, overlooked allowable addiction.

Hi ayseteyze! You are right about that, we don't need Starbucks and I agree completely on "supply creates demand and vice versa". It is just something that became a habit and we can always do away with things that are not a neccessity in our life. Moreover, even I do patronize Starbucks, I guess I could save my money instead of buying me one because it does cost a lot for someone like me who is just an ordinary working person. have a nice day and take care.

A while ago, Starbuck's sent me a gift card in the mail so went to try them out... Although their coffee is OK, I really prefer simmered and percolated coffee. This old fashioned method seems to be too expensive for the coffee chains to put in place of their electro-drip methods, but it really makes for a better brew! :) Plus the fact that it only costs pennies to brew your own fine coffee, as opposed to the high retail price of a Starbuck's regular cup... guess it must be the ambience thing or something... But no matter what I think, I'm glad that you and your crew enjoy your mornings and coffee together... it's great to see Friendship in action these days! :) Have BIG FUN! Who knows, it might just catch on! :)

I can't stand Starbucks coffee. If I am going to have coffee and I'm in Canada, I'll go to The Second Cup, or one of the many other cafes around there. There are lots of cool cafes in Canada. Here in the small suburb of Sedona (Village Of Oak Creek) where I am currently living there is one really good cafe I go to every day, and they make fantastic coffee. I don't go there because I NEED caffeine, I go there because the coffee tastes good.

I totally agree with you! I don't patronize Starbucks, I am a "coffee flavored coffee" kind of gal and prefer to make it at home or at my office. WE have 6 Starbucks in a 4 mile radius where I live, They are unavoidable. I can't help but wonder if they do such a great business because they are considered trendy, and most people want to be trendy. For the most part I think Starbucks is over priced and over rated, but I have to admit on occassion I will grab a vanilla Frappucino from the convenience store.
