I have, in my closet, 32 different pairs of shoes in varying colors and styles....Some of them, I must have polished (hubby's job)...some of them I can throw in the washing machine...some are so delicate that I would be afraid to wear them too much...some are the ones that I tromp out to the barn in...I usually wipe them with a cloth after running the water hose on them to clean the worse of the mess off...LOL So what about you, my fellow myLottian's ... how do you care for your shoes?

I guess it's a blokey thing but I don't have that many shoes and I do try and clean them to make sure they are not dirty or scruffy, I get through shoes quickly as I am heavy on them so they don't last me long. I always take them off as soon as I get indoors and straight into my slippers. I have a shoe rack which they go into save me tripping over them or getting squashed or lost or dirtied.

WOW 32 pairs of shoes, that is a lot Tina :) I only have a few and I usually just wipe then down. The slip ons x2 i wash them by hand and leave them on the porch to dry out. I have not worn my boots or heels for a long time as I am mostly in sandals or jandals. Sneakers are just wiped down and if they get wet then I put newspaper in them and leave them for a day or two and the paper absorbs the water.

I have a good collection of footwear too for different occasions and take ample care that they are maintained in good shape. Normally i clean them up before restoring them and maintain them in seperate boxes.I dont need to polish them all as most of them can be cleaned with a wet cloth and they are back in shape.

You're supposed to care for them?! LOL, just kidding. I just don't have any that need much special care. I have my old but comfortable Nike's that I throw in the washer once in awhile and wipe clean in between washings. My second pair of sneakers just get wiped off. They are the ones I wear intentionally to get dirty. I have a new pair that I haven't decided on yet. They are cordoroy uppers with a double thick rubber sole. Wiping them off probably won't clean down in the grooves of the cordoroy very well but I also don't want those big soles bouncing around in my washer. So until I figure something out I'm just being extra careful with them.
