Vacations: Relaxing or Sightseeing?

I've often wondered what i should do when i go on holidays. There are many people that go on vacations solely to relax, so they just want to sit down at the beach and forget about their daily stress. Then, there are other people, we usually use the japanese tourists example, that spend the whole day going from one place to the other to be able to see the biggest amount of things in the less time as possible. What do you prefer of the two? are you one that just wants to relax on holidays, or do you like to spend your free days sightseeing and being active?

I've been on both kinds of vacations, it all depends on how I feel at the time as to which I prefer. When I was a kid we went on a lot of vacations where we'd spend the first week travelling around seeing all the touristy sites and the second week parked in a campground relaxing by a mountain stream. I loved those kinds of vacations.

i love both too, but i prefer to combine them...i prefer to spend some days doing nothing, and others visiting places or doing activities...like one day each or something like that.

Relaxing.I am not so dynamic nature and prefer the comfort. Some more time and possibilities to release my stress, to forget about the daily troubles...To go sightseeing is nice, but just needs more energy.

I understand what you're saying, magica. So, relaxing for you...will have to book you a room at a hotel by any Caribbean's beach.

When we go on vacations we like to break the two up. We spend a day sightseeing, then a day at the hotel lazing by the pool. That way when we get home we are relaxed and don't need to go on another vacation to recover from the one we have just been on.

Well, that depends. I would like to relax on single holiday that comes immediately after some long days of work. Suppose if i have more than 2 days , then i enjoy my free days sightseeing and traveling to different places that i like provided if i am traveling along with my friends or family & relatives.

We have trouble with this: I like to relax and do very little - maybe go see one or two things, and then spend the rest of the time relaxing. My husband likes to see as many things as possible, and will rush from one thing to the next. He can then go to the beach, and play int eh water for an hour, and pronounce himself relaxed.

Most of the times, I go sight-seeing whenever I get the chance to travel and have a vacation. I do not sleep while on the road, to appreciate the places, sceneries and other culture that I am not familiar with. If ever possible, I walk around the place and look for things that are new to me. I also study their culture, to share them with my other friends and also to know the specialties of that place. From foods, delicacies, clothings, souveneirs and other collectible items that I find interesting!;) But when on beaches, I mostly relax and just enjoy the sea breeze while resting on my hamock!;)

It is both. When your having vacation it is both relaxing as well as sightseeing. One goes hand in hand.
