Please help me. We went to give blood and my hubby could not because his iron levels are too low. Does anyone know any recipes thar are high in iron? Please don't tell me liver & onions because he just won't eat it. I need to be creative and switch his diet slightly to elevate the levels. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you my mylotians!

We have salad with our dinners about 3 times a week. I serve broccoli weekly because it is our favorite vegetable. I sneak fresh spinach into the salads to add more fiber and vitamins. Thanks for the suggestions, any others?

I think the easiest way to ensure your iron level is high enough is to take a supplement. Just make sure he drinks plenty of liquids and has appropriate amounts of fiber in his diet as well because iron supplements can cause constipation. I had to take them through all 3 pregnancies!

The first thing that came to my mind was liver:) Since your hubby does not like that, how about trying this: You will need 1 TABLESPOON OLIVE OIL , 1 ONION, FINELY DICED 2 CLOVES GARLIC, CHOPPED , 1 RED CHILLI, FINELY CHOPPED 1 TEASPOON GROUND CUMMIN , 1 TABLESPOON CHOPPED OREGANO 3 ROMA TOMATOES, FINELY CHOPPED , 1 CUP COOKED KIDNEY BEANS ΒΌ CUP WATER , 300G PACKET VEGIE DELIGHTS TRADITIONAL SOY SAUSAGES HOME-STYLE , 2 CRUSTY FRENCH BREAD STICKS Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan and cook the onion and garlic over medium heat until soft. Add the chilli, cumin, oregano and tomato and cook for 10 minutes, or until the tomato breaks down. Add the kidney beans and water and cook for 5 minutes, or until the mixture starts to thicken. Chargrill or fry the Traditional Soy Sausages over medium heat for 5 minutes. Slice the bread sticks into six pieces, roughly the length of the Longa Life sausages. Cut each piece in half lengthways and top with a Longa Life sausage and a dollop of chilli beans. Sandwich with the top of the roll and serve wrapped in a napkin.

You have just explained to me why I crave beef a lot. I'm broader line anemic. After I eat beef or pasta, I almost always feel better.
