I regularly maintain my computer to avoid it from breaking down. Cleaning: Hardware - Its important for me to clean the inside and outside of my computer. I use a small vacuum cleaner to suck the dust out and thin paintbrush. For the monitor screen I just use newspaper to clean it. I usually open my cpu to clean it of dust once a month. Software - Daily updates, virus and spyware scan. I backed up my data, important files once a month. Between six month to a year I do a reformat of my harddisk. Once in a while I do some upgrades, eg. memory, harddisk etc.. That's it for me and so far have had no problems with my computer. :-)

Computers need care - I reformat my hard drive once a year. I've a Linux & Windows XP double OS and it can get buggy and full of cooties after a while.
I reformat the hard drive once a year. I've a Linux & Windows XP double OS and it can get buggy and full of cooties after a while. Especially Windows. I'm almost due for a disk reformat. I'm awaiting a 20 gig hard drive which will be a dedicated Windows drive, my current hard drive will be a Linux dedicated drive, and then I'm gonna have a USB external for storage. * I dust out the tower once every three months as well. I live in the high desert of Prescott Arizona, a very dusty place so that is a necessary step as well. * When I check into Windows, I scan it's section of hard drive, run Windows Defender, and defrag it's portion of hard drive. I'm seldom in Windows so it's maintenance cycle is less stringent then one would normally recommend for a Windows only computer. Linux is less heavy for care. I upgrade Linux and Windows twice a week. *

I work with computers so I'm adjusting something on it almost all the time, right now I am trimming the video card. To keep it spyware free and the harddisk fast I use a brilliant programme called System Mechanic. It has all the features you need for a total pc cleanup and improvement. My computer is my good friend and if I don't take care of it it will die, thereby i loose a friend.

We must have to maintain our computer because it is very important part of our daily life.I preserve my computer in very secure place, and it is away from dust. And I also use antivirus software to prevent my computer from any damages. And also use well supported firewalls for extra security.I take always disk defragmentation once in a week.Always remove unnecessary data and allways remove unnecessary disks space .
