Hi Gwendovere, mine should be garnet, and I like it, but wear many other gems also :) And i do believe in the power of minerals and gems and what they could do for us :)

hi gwendovere, i am a Virgo by birth sign and my birth stone according to that is Lapis Lazuli..although i have not seen it till now because i have just read about it and i don't give that much importance to birth stones and everything except for the fact that i find it interesting to read about them..do you know how does it look?i can only guess that its blue or bluish white in color but i am not very sure about it..

Birthstones usually go by month instead of zodiac sign. Virgo is Aug. 23 - Sept. 22 so if you were born in August your birthstone would be Peridot, if you were born in September then it would be Sapphire. (same as me)
Lapis lazuli is the alternative birthstone, for September. It's not used much anymore unfortunately, it's so pretty. It's a royal or dark blue, usually with white streaks and sometimes with flecks of shiny gold pyrite.

Mine is sapphire. Which is really cool since my favorite color has always been blue. I have several sapphire rings that I love to wear for special occasions.

My birthstone is the ever-popular diamond, gwendovere. I don't have to worry about it clashing with anything. It goes well with my skin tone and whatever I happen to be wearing.(:

I was born in January, so my birthstone is a garnet. that works for me since red is my favourite colour. I have a really nice ring with 10 garnets and four diamonds in it, that I wear on my right hand, I use to wear it on my left hand, but then I got engaged. ;-)

I was born in May. As the birthstone for May, the emerald, a symbol of rebirth, is believed to grant the owner foresight, good fortune, and youth. Emerald, derived from the word smaragdus, meaning green in Greek, was mined in Egypt as early as 330 B.C. Today, most of the world’s emeralds are mined in Colombia, Brazil, Afghanistan, and Zambia.

I'm an opal which are supposed to be unlucky...someone actually gave me one today ...lots of colour but very little depth. *sigh*. I read somewhere years ago that October, my birth month, is rose zircon. That was way before stones were being created. Not sure what it means...lol.

My birthstone is a diamond....I am an Aries and I have always LOVED diamonds....every since I was a small child I have been fascinated by the different colors that can be reflected through this beautiful stone....
I have seen the movie "Blood Diamonds" and think that too much value is placed upon this stone....it is not worth people's lives....but I still love them.....
