Does anyone know the origin of the phrase, 'gone for a Burton'? I used this today and my daughter asked where it came from.

http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-gon1.htm This might help. I just found it. It's got a few possibilities although it might cause more confusion than clarity with all the different possibilities.
