Comforter Set

I recently ordered a complete set for my bed with comforter, sheets, pillowcases, shams, and dust ruffle. It has arrived and I really am thrilled with it. My problem is whether I should try and order curtains and hope that they are the right shade of burgundy. I have bought a lot of burgundy items over the years and the variations in the shade can be very different. So, should I just take my chances, or should I try to find something locally to match?

Usually if I have ordered a complete bedding set, I will take the picture that usually comes on the cardboard insert and try to match it locally to a set of curtains. That way I know they will match, saving myself the disappointment if I had ordered curtains and the shades didn't match up.

That sounds like a good idea, jeweled. I guess I'm just trying to get out of going shopping. Yes, I'm among that minority of women who really don't like to shop.(:

I despise going shopping as well and am one of the biggest people that will find a way around it if I can. Though I do make exception for certain things, and that thing is when I'm wanting to have things matching up.

I would try Locally first to be honest and then if you can't find it go back to the other Place and take your Chance Good Luck

Well, gabs, since I do have to go out tomorrow, I will probably try to find something in the local stores even though I hate shopping.:D

As you say honey it can be tricky to match the right shade! I think I may be tempted to add a contrasting colour in - that way if it is not an exact match it would not be so obvious - that is just me though! Good luck sweety! xxx

I don't see a problem with ordering the curtains whether they are the exact shade of burgundy or not. Martha Stewarts entire house is the same color (yellow) but the shades of color are not the same in every room. Another possibility would be to choose a different color alltogether for the curtains.Either choose one of the colors that are in the comforter;I'm assuming that it isn't solid,or go with a light coffee color.

Thanks for your input, pismeof. As a matter of fact, a light coffee color IS the other color in my comforter. I will take your suggestion under advisement. I can't wait to deck my bed out, but I want everything to be "just right."(:

well if your bedding is all burgandy, then i would try to take the chance, different shades of burgandy would compliment it very well.it will bring out the bedding more if you had the different shades of burgandy.or maybe you can accent it with hunter green which looks great with burgandy,or a taupe or gold color will accent it as well.

The comforter has taupe in it also, 3lilangels. So I will go with one color or the other. I guess it will depend on which one I find that is suitable.

I would try to find something locally. That way you can bring one of the pillowcases along with you to match the color. If you are not successful with that, try making the curtains. You may be able to find matching fabric.

I would probably try & match the colour up locally, that way you can see the shade of burgandy they have & compare it to the one your set is. Or, like here, most comforter sets etc come with curtains anyway so you could always contact the company & ask them if their curtains are the same shade burgandy as the set you bought. Still, i'd probably go with a local place, at least you could pick out the shade that's the same or at least the closest shade to the one you are after!
