I used to love to go into little cafes with my friends and put money into the juke boxes and sing along! I remember we'd stand bent over it for hours looking at the selections! Am I the only one who remembers this? What did you like about juke boxes?

I personally loved the fact that mom would give us money and we could pick out the songs ourselves. (ie..Christmas songs in July LOL). I loved the sound it made when you flipped the pages back and forth.

On my 16th birthday, my mom got me a Wurlitzer juke box just like the one from Happy Days. I loved it. Had it full of 45s...old and new songs. The old ones were mom's from when she was a kid. After her divorce, she got a condo and had to sell it. She decided to sell my juke box to her realtor without asking me. All I have now is the 45s. Kinda p!sses me off.

It's understandable, she should of asked before doing that...it was yours. One of the must popular jukeboxes of all times. Was it the 1015 model? I bet she sold it for more than she paid for it on your brithday. Those juke boxes had the ability to entertain , not only throught sound, but sight and feel. They had great eye appeal and most had good to great sound. I remeber those really well...yes I am a product of the 60's. The other type of juke boxes I remember back then "Miniature jukeboxes" you remember from the diner counters or booths. Sometimes called wallboxes..I remember those times, good memories..I would listen to Monday, Monday by the Mamas & The Papas,When a man loves a women,by Percy Sledge, Wild Thing, by the Troggs,Hello Goodbye by beatles, I heard it through the grapevine, by Marvin Gaye, Sittin on the dock of the bay, by Otis Redding,One by three dog night. Maybe you to keep your eye open for a wurlitzer now that your not sixteen. A great way to give some friends and family a reason to stop by and vist the sight, sound, and feel. Man if I could just listen to My eyes Adore You, by Frankie Valli one more time on a Wurlizer juker box, it makes for some great romance. I f she bought it for you, it is yours not hers. Those Memories, of mom selling yours, understandable why your pissed off.

We have a diner around us. It's called "Back to the 50's Cafe". They have a drive in in the summer with roller skating waitresses. They have the table side boxes for the Jukeboxes etc. Plus the songs cost 5 cents each only. But let me tell you that this place is jam packed every weekend as well. I love the place. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

On Friday nights they wear the Poodle Skirts also. It is wild. In Dearborn Heights Michigan there's a McDonald still set up like from the start of them. The arches reaching out and up from the outside of the building to the roof through the inside as well. The ceramic tiles and Jukeboxes also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I never saw a jukebox in a cafe, but then again I've never really gone to cafes as many of us tend to hang out in pubs/clubs here in the UK after the age of 18. Obviously in clubs they have a dj playing music and many pubs do these days too but I remember hanging out in local bars 15-20 or so years ago where they had jukeboxes and you put in £2.00 and could choose 6 or 7 songs. I don't recall them using vinyl records, as far back as I can remember they used music CDs but I loved the jukeboxes you could see in the old 60s films, pity they're "out of fashion" - I think they'd do really well in some places even nowadays. Thanks for the reminder of somewhat nicer times :)

Man they still have the original juke boxes in some pubs nowadays... but most places use more modern ones now :(

I do remember them. I thought it was neat just to look through the selections. I could always find something.

I know what a juke box is because Alan Jackson sang about it in some of his songs. I actually did see one too on TV. I want to see one live someday. Yeah, it sounds like the younger generations need to be educated about their history and the things that were made long before they were born. It is educational in my opinion.

Oh I loved the ones that were at the table or booths! Remember those? Then you could secretly fight with other's over what songs were playing. LOL, we loved going to pizza as kids and have bunch of red necks in there playing country, then we would play a ton of Alice Cooper and Kiss songs, HA!

I sure do remember them they were the most important part of the cafe. The bigger the better, flashing lights and also getting quick kick of a thump from the owner if it got stuck. I think a lot of romances got started meeting someone at the the jute box.

No. You can still find them in some places like restaurants. They mostly played 45's which they quit making in the early 1990's. They were really cool I think. I still have enough 45's to stock a few jukes with some great oldies...lol.

I remember jukeboxes very well. I remember memorizing the numbers to push for my favorite songs. I haven't seen many jukeboxes around anymore, except for the small ones in diners.

I do remember them! gleaning over the selections putting in my quarter and choosing 5 songs (or a single for a dime) ...being careful to line up abc with 123 correctly... then watching with heightened anticipation as the doodad picked up and flipped your selection to the correct side down onto the player.... *Please Mr. please.... don't play B-17, it was our song, it was his song, but its o o o-ver... please Mr. please, if you know what I mean, I don't ever wanna hear that song again* the last place I recall having them regularly was pizza huts. ack I hated when someone played music I disliked and the thing would blare. those are the ones who inevitably plugged in a whole slew of quarters or 50cent pieces.

I remember them well, and there are still a lot of places in my area that has them. I have some friends who own a bar and grill, and they have a nice big juke box (the old fashioned kind.) There's a little mom & pop restaurant that has them at each booth like in the old days. Many other places have them here, and they're still just as popular as ever. I have to laugh, old Johnny Cash tunes are on almost all of them, as well as some of the old Everly Brothers tunes.

Oh you bet I remember crazynurse. Those were the good ol days with the good ol tunes. After the big floor model we also had little juke boxes that did the same thing in the restaurant and they were mounted on the wall at each table oh do I remember those days.
