JoyfulOne responded to a discussion called back in time in people.
Ok, call me crazy, but I have always thought I'd like to live in the mid 1800's. Granted it was a hard life, but no harder than living and working on the dairy farm I grew up on hahaha. Outside of the fact that medical stuff was more 'hit or miss' than now-a-days, it still was an exciting time in the history of our country. I think it would have been a real trip to go across the country on a wa...

JoyfulOne responded to a discussion called I had a mystery shop today. in make extra money.
Good for you!! Yes, I used to have 2 mystery shops I used to do on a regular basis for years. One was for a national chain hardware store, and the other was for a local chain of toy stores. I always enjoyed doing it and got $20 bucks for each 'shop' I did. It was sure nice getting paid for doing them, and also getting re-imbursed for all that cool merchandise I got to keep on top:) They'd alway...

JoyfulOne responded to a discussion called Tortillas in cooking.
My son-in-law gets tortila shells every week, and sometimes we just have an over-load of them lol. What I do is make a treat for my grandson and I. I take the shells and run a pizza cutter and divide them up into the little triangles (kinda like cutting pizza slices.) Then I lightly brush a little cooking oil on both sides, just a touch, and lay them on a cookie sheet. Then we sprinkle some of ...

JoyfulOne responded to a discussion called do you think teachers presents have gotten out of hand? in life.
Yes, I do think it's gotten way out of hand over the years. Too much gift and it looks like a bribe or something lol. We usually do something on the order of homemade cookies and candies in a dollar store basket or plate. Another one we did was those 'gift in a jar' type things (homemade soup mix, friendship tea, stuff like that.) I think it says more to the child, as well as the teacher, to gi...

JoyfulOne responded to a discussion called More rationing of healthcare for women. in politics.
I think what's going on is they're trying to save money on insurance at the expense of women's lives. Speaking from personal experience, if I hadn't had a pap because I 'didn't need one yearly', they would have not found the uterine cancer I had. Fact is, I would not be here today if not for an annual pap. If I had been forced by the insurance company to skip even one yearly, it would have deve...

JoyfulOne responded to a discussion called Oh! For the love of a microwave!! in microwave.
For me, that would have to be my food processor. It just gave up the ghost one day and I've missed it ever since. Unfortunately, they're too pricy for me right now, so I try to make do with my blender (but it's just not the same!!) I hope I can get another one someday, it was very handy, especially when my garden crops come in. Blenders are nice, but they just don't do the types of jobs a food ...

Hmmmm, thanks, never really thought about focus groups. The only ones I've seen on the net for around here takes a 40 min drive to the nearest big city. Will definitely have to check those out, maybe there's something closer in one of the closer smaller cities. About 2 or 3 times a year I do product testing for one company. Those projects I can still do at home. One is for women's undergarm...

JoyfulOne commented in a discussion called I had a mystery shop today. in make extra money.
Oh, almost forgot...the mystery shopping jobs I had were all through Kern. I never had a shop with them that was lower than $20 bucks, and they don't take forever to pay. They have shops to do all over US and more. Very reputable company! Here's the link: http://www.kernscheduling.com/

JoyfulOne received a best response in the discussion Credit Cards-Economy by Polly1.
Gee, and I thought I was the only one that this had happened to, I'm ranting about this too! Misery loves company eh? I've had the same card for at least 20 years, never missed a payment, etc. Mine got raised to 29.99% too, and it's making it hard. Personally, I have to wonder if they're forcing some people into bankrupcy because they get their money from some kind of insurance. Meanwhile, they...

JoyfulOne received a best response in the discussion Do you have a fire extinguisher? by GardenGerty.
I have many fire extinguishers. I have one at the top of the basement steps, one in the kitchen, in the laundry room, in the living room, one in the car trunk, and one in the garage. There is also one in a convenient spot upstairs on the second floor. My Dad was the local fire chief, so far be it for me not to be prepared just in case lol. While it may sound like I have a lot, they are not all ...

Thanks for accepting my FR. I hope you will find my discussions interesting. Please don't take it personally if I don't respond to every comment but I assure you I will read them all. If I don't respond it's probably because I agree with what you say and can add nothing to it. But I will rate each comment I find positive. Thanks again. MTAM
