I just burned my lunch :-(

I always make my lunch at night so that I'm not rushing around in the morning to get it done. Well, tonight, I put the tortolini on to boil and came back to the computer to check my e-mail. I figured I'd just be a minute so it was no big deal. Well, here I am typing away to peoples responses, checking my e-mail, looking through I-tunes, when I keep smelling something burning. I figured my son was making a late snack in the oven or something. Well, after a while of smelling burnt food, I went into the kitchen and realized it was my lunch!!! I think I can salvage enough of it for a meal, but now I have to smell that burnt food smell all night. A little while longer and the smoke detector would have gone off!!! I remember once my brother put a couple hotdogs on to boil and fell asleep. They were charred, we have no idea why they didn't catch fire though.. My son also left chicken tenders in the oven all night long one time. They were quite crispy!! Have you ever left something cooking and forgot about it???

I do that much too often! And exactly like that. I put something on to cook, then think I'll check email or look something up real quick while I'm waiting, then I forget... and the next thing you know, I'm trying to figure out what that smell is...

HA oh yeah! I learned the hard way time flies when we are on the computer. So I stopped getting on the computer while cooking. Had to toss many good meals thanks to that. Isn't if funny how we set down on these things thinking it's only been a minute or two then we find out it's been a half an hour to and hour? Man it just zips by.

Yup! Time flies when you're having fun!!! Normally I will set the timer, and MOST of the time I hear it. But for some unknown reason I thought I'd be "right back" so I trusted my internal clock... Lesson learned :)
