Disturbing News Footage Involving a Train

Yesterday when watching the news they ran footage over and over again about train hitting van with children inside. The driver of the van seemingly wanted to beat the trains when she sped up and crossed the first track, was hit by the train on the second track and the hit the train on the other side. Tragically two of the children riding in the van died. The driver and two other children sustained injuries. I can't remember where this happened or other details. It was disturbing to see this footage played over and over again. Yes, another news rant. How the family of these people must be suffering to have to had viewed this footage.

Those poor babies! Man what the heck was she thinking?? Was what she had to do more importiant than her children? She could have wated for the train to pass. In this instance I dont think the news should replay this over and over. Its bad enough what happened but for the family to have to watch it over and over is worse! My heart goes out to the family.

I don't recall the road that led to the tracks being barracaded. There was no other reason for her to cross over other than for the sake of not having to wait for the train to clear.

I can honestly admit I haven't seen it but heard about it from my husband. People really need to wake up to these trains. I live near a train track, not so close that if I step outside I see it, but I can hear it. Those suckers goes fast. The driver gives out I think 3 blasts and keeps going. I do pray that this event sad as it is, that people will watch the video and see what can happen when you try to beat a train. I feel for those 2 kids that are in a hospital, probably don't even know that the other 2 won't be coming to see them. I feel for the familes of these kids, to lose 2 so tragicially like that. I feel for the mom. If she survives this, she will have to live with this for the rest of her life. She will be looked down apon for doing this with her kids on board. I don't know if the police will press charges or not because I really don't know if it's breaking the law to attempt to beat a train. Just a sad day.

The media sure does over do it, don't they? I can only imagine their other family members having the tv on and catching that scene on different occasions. It must feel like the world is pointing the finger for the rest of the world to see. I'm not saying my personal opinion on the matter because I think the family is going through enough. I can't say the same for the news though.

The media ran the footage over and over again. How much pain can a family suffer?

I feel for the families. That is so awful. I don't think they should keep showing those things over and over. My sister was killed in a car accident when she was 19 and they plastered pictues everywhere for days. It is bad enough to have to go through, let alone keep seeing it over and over. I think the media gets too carried away.

The media needs to take into consideration all that will view the footage they play, not just for the profit they will make.

This is the very reason I don't watch the news, no lie. I get my news from the net where shock footage can only be seen if I choose to see it. I hate the news on TV. My girl's teachers keep telling them they need to watch the news and come to school with a story from it. It's a way of having them practice collecting information, retaining it and transfering it, so I understand. However I get them the news paper and I don't let them watch the news. I keep telling their teachers to stop pushing the news on these kids, it's just a ton of who can out shock who anymore and it's not news.

Yes I despise when this happens. Some people are just so stupid when it comes to driving. And why would they put the safety of the kids at risk too? Its so stupid what people do when driving, its all a me-me-me attitude without thinking about the environment you are dealing with! What a bunch of nonsense!! Okay, halting before I break into Ogre Mode. I'm sorry for the children that were injured and the children that were lost. A little more weight and sadness to the heart.

Why you have such a low star rating is beyond me. I have found your responses to be well thought out and helpful to others. Big huggers to you.
