As most know I have a couple apple trees. Harvest time occurred Sunday with the grandsons over to help us pick them all. They got a bag full for themselves and mom to make deserrts with. Now my wife baked whats known as Apple Crumble. It's a recipe from a friend in my A.A. club. apples, brown sugar, graham crackers, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Simple and wuick. I need an apple corer and peeler now though. Cutting up the apples was such a long and tedious chore. Anyhow this is a photo of the wife making the Apple Crumble. She meesed up a little but that's not to be revealed here. Anyhow it turned out great and we ate it all up. Meaning my wife, myseklf and my dad. It turned out superb tasting. Now what to so with the rest of these apples? Hmmmm? A few more photos will follow as comments as well. Thanks all for letting me share this. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I love apple crumble and have it a lot. I sometimes put coconut in the topping. I've decided it's about time I made an apple pie. So I'll let you know how it works. I have been given half a bucketful of lemons so I'm going to make lemon butter which is a sweet spread for bread or toast...yummy.

Yummy, that apple crumble sounds really good. I have a apple corer and it really does help. Anyway, I'm glad the apple crumble turned out well and that you all enjoyed it.

My first thought was, "Great, he IS blaming me for taking them!" Honestly, Bob, I have been NO WHERE near those apples!!! LOL! Sounds like that crumble was a big hit though. I'm gonna have to get to the orchard and find me some. Apple crisp is my hubby's favorite dessert! (Hot out of the oven with vanilla ice cream on top!) That silly boy will eat it for breakfast.

OMG---that sounds so yummy...well can your wife make more and send them to us MyLotters..that should solve the problem of what to do with all those apples..LOL Another great recipe is to combine cut up sweet potatoes, cut up apples and raisins, add a little water, butter, and brown sugar and bake...yum...and don't forget a lot of apple pies, tarts and just plain old fashioned baked apples

When we were kids we used to go across the road to the orchard and pick as many as we could carry home and then make applesauce. I'm tasting it now as I think about it. With about four of us girls, peeling and coring didn't take any time at all.

Man, I'm so jealous of your apple crop! I only got my trees this year, but one of them came through with 4 little apples for me. I was so pleased that I would get a crop at all, I planned on making a cup-cake size apple pie! Unfortunately, the trees are near my fence because I'm still landscaping and the local kids must have had three of them away. I had one precious apple that was growing well and wouldn't you just guess, I went to water the tree the other day and there was a big old worm-hole in it!! Hopefully I'll get a better crop next year, so I can afford to take some losses! Congrats again. That apple crumble looks delicious!

Ooohh I love apples- and anything baked with apples. My grandma used to make this “apple grunt” she called it- It was so delicious! She had given us the recipe- but no one makes it quite like hers. I bet the Apple Crumble was delicious! Also. I wonder what deserts your daughter made for her and her sons? Yum- I hope you have lots of apples next year too!

Cut the rest up and freeze them to enjoy during the winter months in pies and such. I was going to make applesauce out of the apples I picked from a friend's tree but never got around to getting the jars from my mom so they ended up out in the woods half rotted. -sighs- Next time I go to my mom's, I'm going to bring home her jars so I have them handy next time.
