I seem to have had some problems with 'malware' lately. The more I try to find the right program to 'get rid of it', the more I seem to be suffering with it. Anyone got any ideas? One option was to back up all files I could, with regards to my accounting, general files, and then reformat the hard drive, and reload all things on. That seems a bit extreme. I have downloaded 'avar anti-virus', 'registry mechanic', 'avast' and a few others. What is best? Please help me, I am so lost at the moment.

some programs, like the registry mechanic, actually are trojans/spyware themselves. so i think you better back up and reformat. it would save you more headache in the long run. the only two antivirus programs i ever trusted were avira from www.free-av.com and clamwin from www.clamwin.com. they're the best and most effective. tried and tested, among all the others. and i have been everywhere from avg to bitdefender. those two have been the best and they will always be the best for me. :)
