Do you prefer working days or nights? Or afternoon/evenings? I pretty much prefer nights cuz there's a night time differential where I work. But it messes up the rest of my life cuz I'm awake when everyone's asleep & asleep when everyone's awake.

Hello gwendovere. Well you will really think my name fits after I tell you this. I work relief shift, which means I work 4pm to midnight on Monday and Tuesday because Swing shift is off. I work midnight to 8am on Thursday and Friday because Grave is off. And I work 8am to 4pm on Saturday because Days is off. After 20 years of doing this I still like it because I have all of Wednesday off, 8am Friday to 8am Saturday off, and 4pm Saturday to 4pm Monday off. It seems like I have a lot of time off. I seem to get a lot of stuff done. At first I had to amintain a calendar for my family so they could find me. Sometimes they would be looking for me and I was in bed asleep. This was funny to me by they didn't think it was so funny. Happy posting..

I worked third shift or nights for five or six years and I was thrilled to be able to get off. It wasn't that bad at first but after the years went by it got to where I was tired all the time and could never seem to get enough sleep. I didn't feel like doing anything. And it did suck with everyone working regular hours. They never knew when to call and sleep schedules got really messed up on weekends.

I use to work nights when I worked at Dunkin Dounuts. It was kind of neat to me. Go to work at 8 pm and get off of work at 6 am. I was the one that decorated the dounuts after they closed and cleaned after the placed closed.

Nope, thankfully I don't have to work at night. I usually need to work only during the day. However, there are times where there's too much work so I have to work overtime, and yes, that means even at night I would still have to work. I don't really like working at night because it affects my friendships and relationships. It is difficult to maintain close ties if I am never available. Also, I believe that it isn't good for one's health to work on a night shift all the time.

Right now I am a stay at home mom so I work 24 hours a day. But before my daughter was born. I used to work nights and I hated it. So if and when I return to a regular job it will definitly be during the day.

Yes, that makes it hard. I think the worst shift is the 3-11p.m. If you sleep late, it's time to go to work. And after work, there is no place to go. It's a crummy shift.

I loved working the midnight shift. It had so many positives to it. I could sleep when Emily was in school and spend the evening with her. That was my favorite part of working that shift. I wouldn't go to sleep on Fridays (or at least not for long) so I could sleep on the weekend with every one else.

i am a singer so i work at nights. i am also a single mom of four children so its okay for me to work at nights. i go home at around 3 in the morning then cook their meals, breakfast and lunch for they bring lunch at school. wake them up at around five in the morning. they are all at school when it is 7. and that is my time to sleep. i would rather work at nights and be with them at day than be with them at night when they are all asleep. if they need something to but at the school supplies store i can but it before i go to work and hand it over to them before they go to school. it works for us.

I have worked many shifts in my life, and I would have to say I like the night shifts better. You can get a lot done in the daytime. Taking care of appointments for children or oneself. Doing housework and errand running etc. I have worked the day shift and felt i didn't have time for anything.

I've worked both. I used to prefer nights because you don't have to deal with traffic. But I love prime time dvd and I totally love being home to watch it even if I have tivo! So these days I totally prefer working during the day as opposed to night.

For about 2 years, I worked 6pm-6am, and sometimes until 10am for a total of sixteen hours. It seemed like I didn't sleep well working nights because I didn't get to sleep as long because alot of things I needed to do were in the daytime, so it's hard trying to find the time to sleep and be social too. It was better because I do hate getting up early in the morning like I do now to go to work, but I do like to sleep at night. The pay diff. is good. I guess I wouldn't mind working nights every now and then and had actually thought about doing it again as long as it's only 8 hours though.

I worked nights years ago. I worked at a convenience store the overnight shift alone. Sometimes it would get so boring. And you had no other employees to talk to. I had the worst time trying to sleep during the day. So I always felt tired at work. I don't think I would want to do it again. I would rather work days.

Hi gwen, Yes I have worked nights, and now my work schedule had 2 nights in it. I work evenings 2 days, 1 day off, 2 nights, 1 day off, 1 day days, 1 day off. It is a rotating shift that covers when the other shifts have days off. It is quite interesting, and seems to allow me more time off until I have overtime for one of the shifts. That means I go from 8 hour shifts to 12 hour shifts. Then I get real tired. Other than that, I really enjoy it and have been doing this for 20 years. I am also compensated for the changing shifts from dat to day. Happy posting..
