I am not yet a mother but I have been in daycare for over 6 years and curntly nanny for a 5 month old. Things will go smoother if you meet their needs before they realize them and begin to cry. If they are suposed to eat every two housr feed them exactly every two hours and they will not throw a fit because they are hungry because they will not get so hungry. If they have not slept in a while rock them and let them nap. If you try to let them fall asleep on their own they may fight it and get very cranky. Change them every 1-2 hours and they will not need to cry for a diapear change. Basicly meet their needs and you will do just find. It is hard to rember what times they eat and such write it doown and you will always remeber exaclt what you did when. If the baby is crying and you are not sure why check the last time they where changed, ate , and napped and you will notice they most likely need one of thouse things.

1st babies are real hard because you have no experience...believe it or not...your instinct goes on overdrive...the only thing i remember real well about my 1st child is that i did not check for ear infections...they cant tell you whats wrong with them so invest in a thermometer, one of those kits that lets you check for ear infections..and if your moms living..keep in touch...use the internet...you'd be surprised how much info you'd get....i always say...you really never experience love until you have a baby...much happiness to you and your sweet firstborn

Thank you for the reply. I didn't even know they made kits for ear infections.

Just enjoy them while they are still a baby, cos this is the easiest time to take care of them. One thing, no matter how naughty they will become, but they are still the best thing that's ever happened to you!

That is good advice, thank you. I have the feeling I'll have to remind myself of that often.
