Is it better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven?

So, in the dichotomy of Heaven and Hell, why would anyone prefer to be the best guy in Hell rather than the worst guy in Heaven? Unless some peopl have funny ideas about these concepts, Hell = absolute pain and Heaven = absolute pleasure (or along those lines). Being a ruler in Hell doesn't absolve you from the pain, and being a lowly member or Heaven doesn't stop you receiving the pleasure. But then again, feel free to shock me. ;)

hi soulsister. i think id rather be the lowest class in heaven than stay in hell forever. i love my god so much that its alright for me to be in the lowest class in his kingdom rather than an oppressive ruler against him. to me this is an honor for me if ever i will go to heaven and i hope i will very soon.

i would like to say that I am a Christian and believe in the salvation given to me by my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. and i am glad and hopeful of the assurance that I will be with my Lord one day in heaven. but i think that as Christians, it is not so much as looking forward to be in heaven just so we could escape the heat of hell. let us look forward to that day that we can be in heaven so that we can be with our Lord, being able to worship Him day and night, and be forever in HIs presence. the comforts just come with it! bless you! :-)

I dont believe in heaven or hell...not the way you are all talking at least..To me our here and now, our exsitance and how we live, treat others, are treated, our experiences etc etc ARE our heaven and hell.... BUT to look at it the way you do (heaven=pleasure, hell=pain) I'd still choose hell...Heaven according to the Christian beliefs is IMO about perfection, being/having the best and its a discriminating and hateful place and thats something I want no part of...I dont tolerate it here on earth so to speak so I certainly wouldnt tolerate it in my so called after life...I would NEVER change my core being, who I truly am in my soul and as a person just to be able to go to heaven...if I were to do that I'd STILL be living in hell within myself because I'd have denied me, ME..make sense?

You have got me on this one. There is no way to shock you on this one, because I do not get it either. As a matter of fact you writing this is more than enough shock for such a lame topic. No offense, but whoever said this obviously had no sand on their beach.

It seems that the dichotomy disappears when we consider that the "evil" love to do what they do. So Hell to them is heaven? Love conquers all? Seems like it. :-) If the past is gone why does our mind make it real again? That to me, seems like hell when we keep going over and over all the things we feel as injustice. Be here now for it is all there is. In fact isn't now infinite? If so, if we aspire to realise infinity we've already got it.. Cosmic joke eh?
