Would you Paint in BLOOD to make a statement?

Today I saw an article on yahoo about a painter that made me gasp :) Not only is his way of art weird, but he is very, very talented, and like a wizzard with painting :) He did some crazy stuff however and there are people calling him crazy too, but he doesn't care really. See this video here is youwish, of the portrait made with his blood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnnIMgheaCY Would I do it - most probably not. If I was as talented as he is I would have chosen some real colors instead of my own blood, but yeah, it was his statement :) here is the article that i was telling you about, and there is yet an other video for you to see ;) http://potw.news.yahoo.com/s/potw/23115/strokes-of-genius TheFortunes

I hate to say it, but this idea is old news. More than 15 years ago, Damien Hirsh, a British artist, did a sculpture of his own head and covered it with his own blood. I saw this at the Saatchi & Saatchi Gallery in London. It's gruesome, but I guess it makes a point.

Hi AnythingArt, thanks for your responce in this discussion. And I wasn't implying that it is something new, while it was new for me :) And yes, gruesome it is, this guy is very talented though, and so is Damien Hirsh :) TheFortunes

Sorry, rereading my response, I see that it comes off in the wrong way. I didn't mean it to sound snippy...just that everything new is just the old reinvented.

You are right, almost everything gets re-invented, so what do you think, can we not strech out of the borders made by ourselves? Or is it something more than that, that is needed ;) TheFprtunes

-shudders- I couldn't finish watching the video. There is no way I could do what he did. I just bout passed out when a piece of glass sliced my finger open and I had to watch the blood pour out while I was trying to stop it from bleeding.

Hehehe, no problem at all with me there Blackbriar, and Iunderstand how blood could work for some of us :) This kind of "statements" are only for the strong "stomacks" among us by the way :) TheFortunes
