i think so. i think it robs us of our freedom to live a full life just as God intended because we are always hindered by superstitions. do this, do that, etc. it's like feng shui and horoscope. i don't think God would want us to follow superstition other than His word. but i think that people find it easier to follow superstition than God, no?

Exactly! Many things are taboo and I don't see any difference in the life of those who follow their superstitious beliefs and those who don't. Actually, there's a difference. People who don't have superstitious beliefs are happier and more contented because they know exactly what they want to do without fear of offending seemingly unseen powers. I used to be told that I'm not supposed to sweep the floor at night because the blessings are being swept away too. As if dust accumulated during the day is a blessing. Duh! Many people's lives (at least in my country) are not improving because of so many taboos or superstitions. God's will and commandments for his people are very plain. He wants us to enjoy life while serving him.

that is right jemina. many people in our country are poor because of wrong beliefs. and they believe that these beliefs will uplift their lives. despite what the years have told them, they still continue to think that superstition can help them.

I totally agree with you. Superstitions can weigh us down and there's definitely no freedom if you believe in them. If people would read God's Word they would actually know what true freedom is. Nice post, my friend.

thanks gtargirl. yeah, it seems that we have to hide under shadows with superstition. i think that is what the devil wants.

i dont' believe in superstions, but my mom believe in it very much, and she asked someone who has special ability to give me a test, then the person said i would have a bad marriage, then my mom were very worried about me. and she told me to keep my own bank cards by myself. frankly, i feel very bad, because i know my boyfriend loves me very much, and i can't do that. but i know my mom loves me too. she doesn't hope bad things happen to me. so i hate the person who gave a test for me. supposed it were true, but i didn't want to know it at present.

that is because when go to seers, guessers, etc. the devil hears what these "predictions" are. the devil is powerful and can makes things happens. when we consult these seers, we are giving the devil the authority to tamper with our lives. it is satan that gives these people the power because in the bible, God does not give seers the power. satan is crafty and powerful, and he will not present itself like a scary thing with a fork in his hand. he can be in many sorts of things, things that we think are harmless. that is why i don't read horoscopes nor listen to them on the radio. when the horoscope is on the radio, i cover my ears or hum a tune so that i wont hear a word that is being said. i dont want the devil to have a foothold in my life. God bless you!

I'm not sure what to say! Something similar happened to me! My mother asked me this favor.. to sit just once at a guesser and hear he tale about me! The weird thing is that me and my mom never knew the guesser but she seemed to know things that no one else except we knew! What she said was not too precise! For example she said a member of the family is gonna injure him/her-self! And that winter my grandmother broke her leg! I still think it was luck and believe only in scientific proven phenomenons!

I prefer science as well but doesn't science make life doll? It explains everything and, doing that, gives you less hope! What if one day it will explain the creation of man (for surely) or make sure that there is no God? What happens then? Sometimes it's better not to know!

I think superstitions are fake! The people that invented them probably had a bad experience(or simply bad luck) after doing something(walking beneath a 2ended ladder) and thought that the reason for his/shes bad luck is just that! Take into consideration that the world is filled with people and some of them are filled of.. I rest my case!
